It works, havent had it on a rig yet though just bench tested it with the Losi motor above. De-casing it is not really beneficial though, you can remove the top case but all the electronics are molded into the lower case in a resin, not much space to save by removing the top of the case. Mike, we were talking about this yesterday at the comp, did you see this? Looks good and now the BEC will do 7.4v It's also cheaper than the original. Castle Creations | Sidewinder Micro 2 |

Was just wondering I managed to rewire the sensor on my novak three80 but I've been using a edge2s which... has been in just about everything I've owned..

Oh I see, the MicroX plugged right into the Losi motor no problem and started up seemingly smooth on the bench but will need to test under load to know for sure. |

So my plan is to run the HH motor along with the new Castle Micro Sidewinder 2, but the motor needs brushes, I need to see if HH still has them available for this motor. So in the meantime, Im going to try something different and give the little Losi 18.5T sensored brushless crawler motor a try... This is where I begin the "cramming electronics in a mini" game. Had this Tekin RS Gen2 in the drawer, of course I de-cased it. We dont need those heavy brass posts, so I removed them and soldered the wires directly to the board. I made a little clear plastic cover and cut out a couple holes in it to allow the buttons to still be used and allow me to still see the led's, then wrapped it, it's actually pretty small/thin and light once those posts are removed. I plan to run this without an external BEC, the built in BEC on the RS runs at 5 amps and 7.4 volts..... I'll see how it goes... I like the fact that this ESc has a port just for the Hotwire to connect to to make adjustments, super easy and really accessible! So where do you put this stuff?? The penalty on this is around 5 grams, actually it was 5 grams when I weighed it but I have since removed more material from it so it's probably around 4 grams or so now. Thought I would try this little e-flight 2S 200mah 30c battery, I had to open it up and solder on power leads since these only come with a balance plug on them. It's a little wide to lay like this as it rubs against the upper link. It fits fine like this..... But then it hit's the spacer when the suspension compresses... But who said spacers have to be round? Weight penalty, 1 gram over the spacer, but knowing this will actually add some protection and strength to the front of the chassis... penalty accepted. It looks like it is touching here but it's not, I can freely move the battery forward/back with the suspension fully compressed. It is running, I wanted to test out this battery before I went any further, so I took it to the rocks on Sunday to "lightly" run it around to see what run times I could get out of the little battery, it ran for 12 minutes before it stopped, that was the 1st run on that battery so hopefully it will get a little better once the battery goes through a few more cycles, either way it should be fine on a 6 minute course. The little brushless motor on 2S actually works pretty well, crawls nice and slow and moves along at a brisk walking pace. I can keep on going with this thing, I have more ideas and things I want to do to it, but when will it end???? Whats Left? Everett made me a really nice set of Mini Voodoos, I'm awaiting some DravTech wheels to be delivered to mount them up. Skins (Decisions, decisions, Any idea's?) De-Case and wrap the receiver. When running it this weekend it was obvious the shocks were too stiff, Im using Mini-T rear springs with virtually no preload on them, Im going to have to try the front Pink springs next. Once complete, a full photo shoot will be in order..... More to come.... |

Got a bit more done to this rig, been a bit busy and back on the Dirt Bike so progress slowed down a bit.... I contacted Everett and asked him to make me a nice clean set of Mini Voodoos, I wanted the tires for this rig to be nice and clean, free of lumps and bumps and he delivered! He built these up with Vodoo KLR sidewalls. These sidewalls have a LOT of ribbing and a really thick sidewall, I had a lot of cutting and shaving to do! I did all the shaving on the inside of the sidewall to maintain a clean look on the outside. When gluing these to the DravTech 1.9 Cyclone wheels I removed one side plate of the inner hub and used a tapered souffle cup I had laying around pushed up through the center hole to aid in getting the tire mounted (glued) perfectly centered onto the wheel. Nice and centered... Looking good... This rig is just about done, just need to get some skins on it, re-mount the de-cased receiver, and a little suspension work and should be ready for it's 1st comp this coming weekend. Should have finished pic's up in the next day or two. |

Hey Heckler, we need some finished pics of this already. You can't build such a beautiful rig and keep us hanging!
