Hecklers Sudu Zero "Sickness"
 

So here it is.. By now most of us have seen this awesome chassis and axles by DravTech. I’ve been working on this for a while now and keep adding, tweaking, etc. in between every other project I have going on bad I’m still not done but I figured I should get this build thread started before we Tobias comes out with Sudu Zero version 5.2!

I bent up some links for the rear first, rear uppers are 1/8” Ti Rod, lowers are 5/16 Ti rod turned down to 4mm.

I had to add some color… Gold Anodizing…? Nope, that’s for the SUDU Pro

I had some SCX shocks in the drawer so I cleaned them up and shortened the shafts and shock bodies down to accommodate the chassis.

I needed some proper spring cups so I whipped up some Titanium Jeepin Doug style spring retainers.

The Delrin spacers that Tobias includes with his chassis have to be some of the nicest made I’ve ever seen, but you can clearly see how the bend/flex under the tension of the carbon chassis plates, so yea…. 5/16 Ti rod, drilled all the way through and threaded with a forming tap.

Time to dig in to the axles, these axles are sweet, but the stock Losi stuff just didn’t seem right to me, so……
Ti Lockers, front will be using Wraith/XR type Uni’s cut down to size, rear will be a 1 piece 5mm axle pinned at the locker.

Exceed gears front/rear with a Traxxas pinion in front for overdrive.

The rear axle is pinned with a Traxxas drive shaft pin, the pin section was turned down to 2mm to go through the 2mm hole in the shaft.

I cut and re-threaded the shafts, and also the shock bodies to get to an overall eye to eye of 63mm.

Moving on to the Trans, The HR aluminum main trans gear tends to strip out in the center where the stock half shafts go in (what a couple mm depth on each side??) So I bored the gear out to 5mm and drilled a 2mm hole in between the teeth of the gear down through the gear and through the other side of the hole, a 2mm roll pin was pressed through the gear/shaft. There doesn’t seem to be any issue with the gear mesh with the small hole in there, spins perfectly smooth.

Trans complete… Yep, even the M2 hardware is Ti. I was able to shorten the output shaft by about 8mm, this saves me some room and no clearance issues.

Great guy... You can buy them in 2 versions. This and the vanquish chub/knuckle one (I have that)
