Re: Brushless 380/390 size motor systems There are a couple places out there making 1/18 brushless setups. However, there aren't any making 1/18 Sensored brushless setups. Sensored setups are the best for crawling. I have used the 1/18 castle setup in a skate park bashing truck and I loved it Lol. |
Re: Brushless 380/390 size motor systems Hobby wing makes a couple 1/18 scale sensored brushless motors. And I agree for crawling IMO stay brushed or sensored brushless. |
Re: Brushless 380/390 size motor systems So glad I got the Novak 380 system when I did... the small motor options are so limited now days. |

Every now and than you'll find a Novak Mongoose system. Just gotta put a feeler out for the motor. I plan on using a Mamba Micro X on my Novak 380. |
Re: Brushless 380/390 size motor systems The castle mamba micro x can run sensored with their optional wiring harness. Mamba Micro X Extreme 1:18 Scale Combo with 0808-4100Kv Motor |

Re: Brushless 380/390 size motor systems There was an outfit out of China called Anderson Racing that also made a 380 can brushless sensored motor, but can't find the link anymore, so I guess they are gone now too. I tried contacting them a few times, no response, no surprise. On the up side, I did find these: Carisma Racing 4600KV Sensored Brushless Motor | Products - Carisma Radio Control Model Carisma Racing 5350KV Sensored Brushless Motor | Products - Carisma Radio Control Model They are also out of China, just sayin'. |
Re: Brushless 380/390 size motor systems tacon make some good low KV high turn brushless motors. Not sensored but could be good Tacon 1/16 - 1/18 RC Car Motors |

Re: Brushless 380/390 size motor systems Has anyone tried the turnigy or Carisma motors? I just picked up a new xcelorin ESC for £15 so I’m in the market for a motor to go with it. |

Re: Brushless 380/390 size motor systems Will find out tomorrow if the turnigy 1/14 sensored 4620kv fits. Mine arrived at work today but I had the day off. |

Any measurements / dimensions are appreciated, as Hobbyking only announces the shaft diameter (3.16mm). |
Re: Brushless 380/390 size motor systems It’s around 43mm long and fits a pro chassis well. It’s a bit heavier than a stock motor but as soon as I get a pinion sorted I’ll see how it drives, the pinion I ordered has a stepped centre hole so it doesn’t fit, ill probably just drill it out. https://photos.smugmug.com/Mrc/i-mz3...A9F0B49F-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/Mrc/i-Grf...1780C67B-L.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/Mrc/i-wHD...C32AE356-L.jpg |
Re: Brushless 380/390 size motor systems Thanks for the pics! "thumbsup" Let us know how you like it. By the way, nice chassis, but your spur gear looks a bit worn  |
Re: Brushless 380/390 size motor systems Cheers, yeah the spur gear is a mess, something got caught up in the drive shaft and I didn’t notice until it was too late. Been trying to find a new one for a while but mrc parts in the UK are hard to source so I might have to mod a different one to fit. |
