Axle slop
 

Ok So I'm relatively new to the crawler scene. I've got a few but my losi pro 1/18 seems to have a lot of slop in the axles, left to right they have a decent amount of sway I guess you'd call it. Trying to fix it has got me stumped, I pretty sure it's not supposed to be like this?

Move the upper links outboard the chassis plates. This will require outboarding the lower ends of the shocks to get the shocks to clear the links. These cars need all the triangulation they can get though, which what you achieve by moving the links.

Also, make sure all the link hardware is tight. A loose rod end ball at the chassis end can quickly add up to a ton of diagonal play between the chassis and axles.

Man, thanks a lot redranger worked perfect never thought of it.

Future searchers for axle slop this worked wonders in my losi pro. Just flip the hardware on the upper links and move the lower mount point out on the shocks. The second part requires longer screws or a nut.

No problem man. Done this a time or two...

I usually use longer M2 screws and an extra rod end pivot ball as a spacer. Those little tiny tabs WILL NOT support the shock hanging off them alone.

BTW, you'll still find slop where the lower links fit the pockets in the skid. There is no way I know of to tighten that up short of a better fitting piece of music wire or similar. Moving the uppers outboard at the chassis fixes 90% of the slop though. The rest should go fairly unnoticed now.

Boom, more good advice. I definitely had an mounted to the one tab. Definitely don't wanna break it. Went to the hardware store got some longer screws and put some pivot balls in there out of a mini T had to double it up at each corner but it's all buttoned up and so much better! Thanks again man, sharing knowledge... good stuff. Gonna go hit the rocks!
