New motor for the mini guys Was looking through some of Holmes Hobbies motors yesterday and ran across this...A 380 sized Revolver. This should be awesome in a Mini crawler if its anything like the bigger ones. I have ordered one to see how it is. Just need to get an esc and servo for my truck now lol https://holmeshobbies.com/motors/bru...ensorless.html |

I just bought a mini, I built years ago and was ran on 2 courses during the life of the owners span.. Looking forward to rolling it across the rocks, listening to the Revolver! Quote:

Re: New motor for the mini guys I was already thinking about building another mini so this just kinda kicked me into doing it lol. I had to share it here as I know some people have been looking for motors and there aren't alot of options out there. |
Re: New motor for the mini guys My interest in the minis just got rekindled a few days ago so I'm working on my son's Slickrock. Wheel wideners should be delivered today and then I need to install the Team Brood motor I bought for it months ago. May need to consider building another mini for myself soon! Nice to know HH has a good brushless for it. |
Re: New motor for the mini guys I hope this works out well as I’ve tried two different brushless set ups on mine over the 8 plus years I’ve owned it and the drag brake never seems to match that of a brushed motor. |

Re: New motor for the mini guys Outrunners have more poles than the inrunners. |
Re: New motor for the mini guys I snagged one and a mamba micro x.. I'll report back when tested |

Re: New motor for the mini guys That was my first thought when it showed up lol. Its so tiny lol. Hopefully your testing goes well. Really want this to be a good motor option...specially as I have one sitting here lol |
Re: New motor for the mini guys I'm working on it! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1fb1c34ac1.jpg Need to cut, solder, repin, some wires, once I figured out where it's all getting mounted. |

Definitely don't want to try fitting the Micro X in a comp chassis. Just thinking about it reminds me of the Mongoose days. Sent from my SM-S767VL using Tapatalk |
Re: New motor for the mini guys Excited to see this, definitely will be ordering one |
Re: New motor for the mini guys I got mine today.... I was concerned about the fact that this motor wires are all black. My castle micro sidewinder leads are white red and black...not sure which wire goes to witch lead.....the motor I am using now is brushed and I only use the red and black ones....not sure how to connect these wires to ESC  |

Re: New motor for the mini guys Center wire to center wire. The outer wires can be swapped. |

Atleast how I remembered and am going to do it. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk |
Re: New motor for the mini guys Very cool. Won't this thread the Losi MRC drivetrain? |

Re: New motor for the mini guys NICE little motor only thing I have a smoothness problem (start-stop-start) right off neutral..when level nice and smooth but when the rig comes in contact with anything where it requires the slightest increase in pulling power. I get** (start-stop-start)* I need to apply more throttle to compensate or to get pass the problem then it is smooth again. This happens whether forward or reverse. I use the castle micro sidewinder ESC and futaba 4pk radio Anybody else having this happening |
Re: New motor for the mini guys Does the sw micro have torque control? You can use that to tune out the start-stop-start lurching. |
Re: New motor for the mini guys Thanks for the reply"thumbsup" I will check and let you know. |
Re: New motor for the mini guys Oh John that torque setting...should it be high % or low% if I manage to get it to work on the new micro sidewinder V2 ESC Well I did find the torque setting in the castlelink but when I tried the motor test it would not work..never finished the motor test on my ESC I did download the setting before exiting the castlelink program... Well after trying unsuccessfully to programming my old micro sidewinder sporty I am buying a new version the micro sidewinder V2 and starting this all over when I get it...thanks HH for replying if I have problems I will asking for HELP"thumbsup""thumbsup" |
Re: New motor for the mini guys Typically a low setting is enough. A micro X will do better but isnt as small. |
Re: New motor for the mini guys Losi MRC is very tight for space especially with a boddyless chassis Love this motor just got to work out the bugs and hope I don't fry it in the meantime |
Re: New motor for the mini guys So, the micro x is a good match for this motor? I thought small sensorless brushless motors studder at low speed, not the case with this setup? Thanks. |
Re: New motor for the mini guys The micro sidewinder V2 did make difference in the (start-stop-start) at low throttle. I'm sure the micro x would be better if there is room in your rig...I set all the settings as John HH described in his castle setup video on YouTube..."thumbsup" now to get it out to my favorite testing area"thumbsup" |
Re: New motor for the mini guys Ever come up with any videos for this setup? i run hh in my 1/10 and have recently gotten back into mini with the kiddos and considering this exact setup for my mrc |
