Also while looking through my screw assortment, for the shocks, I found a bunch of countersunk and replaced all the bottom screws except for a couple I didn’t have the right length or size. I haven’t really tested the shocks yet but filled them up 3/4 with oil and they rebound nicely off the truck. Definitely better dampening on the truck when cycled by hand or dropped on the ground.

How long are the factory shocks? I am running the powerstroke XT’s on the rear which I believe are 128mm

I love this truck! So fun to customize and really feels like a true desert truck! On a sidenote, just want to let everybody know I appreciate y’all in the RC hobby, we are just a bunch of friendly folks (unless we disagree on something!, But that just makes the community closer.)

Definitely shorter than 120 mm (Just based on the geometry), I’ll throw a caliper on it tomorrow and post a pic if somebody doesn’t beat me to it! Or I’m sure the info is on here somewhere.

If I remember correctly, the stock rear shocks are 117mm. I'm planning on getting the PowerStroke "Slash 4x4 rear" (for front) & PowerStroke XL (for rear) shocks for my BR. I'll be placing 6mm (one 4 mm, one 2mm) of internal limiters in the PowerStroke XLs, to bring them back to 'stock' length (can't remember the stock front length right now).

The XT’s are definitely a little long for the stock rear. The driveshaft starts to bind at full droop. I used a set of incision upper links and put a thin nut on one side to space the rod end out slightly. This rolled the axle back enough to keep the pinion angle good through the entire travel.

This must be an issue when using the stock axle, its the only other variable, as I have no driveshaft binding at full-droop using the PS XT's in the rear. Also with the stock drive shaft you could just trim a bit of the female half to eliminate the binding. Just an observation, Ed

Light bar came in today! Two less LEDs than stock but at least 3x brighter (Haven’t hit it with a light meter yet)! Still running off the receiver 6V. Used an extra piece of cage I had from a crash to install. If you notice in the picture the two holes lineup perfectly on the rear bar and also are useful as standoffs (because the Light bar is curved). Stuck a little too far out and too high to bolt it to the three holes of the stock light bar location, so I just zip tied the bar to the roll cage for now. Definitely strong enough (I hope!) Until I come up with a better solution. It’s located perfectly in my opinion. What do y’all think? Also included a better picture of how I installed the rear my trick RC chase light. Pictures don’t do this justice! This light is killer… But I knew that already, I have one on Both my crawlers, 5 inch and 2 inch and those are bright as hell too!)

Saw a cool trick somewhere to take out the clear lens and hit it with a light shot of chrome on the inside or maybe Lexan window tint? Just to hide the LEDs. Doesn’t take away much from the lumens as far as I can tell!

Hey y’all! Quick question. Messing with the settings on the ESC and put it back to stock a few times. Because every time I kept getting timing on number five!?!? There’s nothing after restoring to factory settings that is on number five! Programmed it to number two and it seems way more zippy any thoughts comments or questions?

Finally got my first video of her! For you who are wondering about the lights they are bright as shit! Just posting this video and pictures because some had wanted to see them.
This thing hooks up straight so much better with extra dampers (Shocks) in the back!

Looks good...especially the new rear lights. Although mine were delivered, they're home in the SF Bay Area (along with a few other upgrades that have been delivered), while I'm still in Vegas. So that the lights aren't always on, I'll be installing a CPS-1, to remotely turn them on/off from my 7PX.

May I suggest a P.E.R.S? It’s all I use for remote switching.
They offer different leads or you can just crimp on your own but they’re awesome! Super cheap, featherweight and I swear by them. I’ve never had one fail.
I totally forgot about installing that … Thanks for reminding me! Appreciate you brother!

It sounded great...until I discovered it only says up to 6.0V (I typically set the BEC to 7.4V). However, I should still be about to use one in the BR, as I'll probably be setting the BEC to 6.0V (the servo I'll be installing is already powerful (288oz/in) AND fast (0.08sec) at 6.0V. I could have gone with a less powerful, slightly slower, servo, but Futaba not only had this one on sale...but, it was on sale for less than the slower, less powerful, model.

Are you talking about the BEC in the stock ESC (I didn’t know it could be adjusted… Did I miss something?)? Or are you using an aftermarket BEC and/or ESC? If it’s a aftermarket BEC you’re looking for, look no further baby! This is what I run in my crawlers and love it! Straight to the servo and it’s literally a no brainer.(Unless you have to switch the battery leads ) That would fix your switch voltage problem.

I wish I would’ve known about that before I bought the SAVOX lol :(

No, I'm talking about the Mamba X's BEC...that's what I'll be installing in the BR. That, and either a HH PP 540-L, or Tekin Pro4 HD. At least, those are the motors (kV undecided) I'm primarily considering.

Nice!! I’m waiting till I grenade the stockers till I upgrade those components.(I mean if one of them goes....I might as well replace both, right? LOL)

Just a heads up to you guys on the Hansen switches, the next size up: NERS V2 is good for 2-10v and up to 4amps, I also have been using them for years and have never had one fail, I buy them by the 10 pack they are so convenient and small!!

Thanks to CaliCrawler for bringing these to my, as well as others, attention...thanks to you for seeing this particular one. That resolves the "problem". Find thing is, I thought I had looked at this one...must have been the V1. Will probably start with a 3-pack, just to see how they do.

I'd still use the MyTrickRC booster/switch in some vehicles, and these in others, depending on the power needs of the LEDs used - LEDs requiring up to 10V would use these, while LEDs requiring 12V would get the MyTrickRC booster/switch.

Thanks, again.

Anytime! I love scouring the web for off-the-wall shit nobody else needs (or so I thought)

Also, just a note… The mytrickRC light bars have a 6 V Max rating I believe. I only run it through receiver power now because I learned my lesson. Actually burned out my 5 inch light bar on my crawler in about 20 minutes on 2S lipo (Running through the HeyOk light controller On the headlight lead, which runs straight from the battery voltage). Also another awesome thing I have found and love it, especially on the crawler! They make a few excellent things but one that would be perfect for the Baja would be Their just the brakes controller. You could add the microswitch in between this and the headlight so you would always have breaks but be able to turn the front on and off at will.

I forgot to mention the complete lighting controller has a three position switch built-in which is awesome!
Here it is an action, I love it! I have some rear yellow warning lights hooked up to the hazard feature.

PowershiftRC makes some great 12v boosters with a switch too, and without the switch. I use a lot of his lights/boosters on my crawlers, his optical pods on 12v are stunningly bright and scale looking too. You can find his stuff at Amain and direct, he will make you custom stuff too, super nice guy!!
