Holy crap, Batman. 4S? I'm running 3S, on a lower kV motor (3100 vs the stock 3800), on the stock 14T pinion. Plus, with all the aluminum upgrade parts I've installed, she comes in at over a 30% weight increase (stock is a little over 6lbs, mine is over 8lbs). Even with that added weight, and a lower kV motor, mine almost breaks 44mph. And you want to run 4S? Crazy, Man...cra-zy. Best of luck, though.

I've got a Castle 1415 sensored 2400 kV and a 10T...I have the 13T, too. Vanquish rear, SSD front, Vitavon center, Exotek cups in all three, various other aluminum bits on the suspension...I'm shooting for 60 mph. Luck is much appreciated...

Ok...with that motor, 4S isn't too crazy. Have you made sure the battery fits first? And that the battery door closes & locks with the battery inside? If you can hit 60mph, and still have the BR completely stable while running off-road (ie. true Baja territory), I'd love to see video.

When I did my 43.7mph, I was in Mint 400 territory, near Las Vegas (and, since my BR is the Limited Mint 400 Edition, the location was befitting). I haven't tried the second pinion...yet...but, I might.

Can I get some thoughts on diff grease? I have been running my BR with no issues at all for a few months now (on 2s) but my Hot Racing front and rear diff parts have just turned up so I am about to tear them down and slip on the larger bearings.

Whilst I am in there, what diff oil / grease combo would you recommend. I mainly drive on grass or gravel. Not looking to race, just looking for best balance.

Finished up the rebuild, still needs suspension and diff tuning. 4s equipped!
First-time paintwork is nice from far but far from nice.

I'm curious how you end up tuning the diff to keep the front tires from ballooning. Mine ballooned horribly on 3S before locking the center diff.

The Proline KO2's don't balloon nearly as much as the stock tires did.

FWIW, I've got 1M in the center and 15K up front. I still have to get everything tuned as far as suspension and diffs go. I will probably try 300K in the center next.

Thanks! What do you not like about 1M in the center or are you just curious what something less viscous will do?

Is anyone using Proline KO2 tires on the stock wheels and can you tell me if they fit up inside the body when the suspension compresses? I'm looking for something that doesn't hit the fender lips.

I haven't driven it on loose surfaces yet, but it likes to roll in turns on pavement. i think some lighter oil in the center diff will mitigate that some.

The KO2's will likely rub on any wheel...they are ~1/2" larger than the stock tires. Some narrow hubs on the Axial Method wheels help some, but I still rub a little. I'm going to try some .185 SLW hubs to tuck them just a little more. They are just so much better than the stock tires, though.

Do you mean 1/2" taller or 1/2" wider? My stock tires diameter's measure 4.66" (new) and 4.52" (worn) and the T/A KO2s are supposed to be 4.74" tall. That's only 0.08" taller.

Stock tire width is 1.75" and the T/A KO2s are 1.80" wide. That's only 0.05" wider. What do you see that indicates that the T/A KO2s are 1/2" larger in any dimension?

Yeah, you're right. Now that I'm home, I see they are not that different in size. My stock 1st gen wheels measure about 116mm and the KO2's around 122mm (on Axial wheels w/ stock Prolline foams). I think the rubbing is primarily due to wheel offset, which is why I want some narrower hubs.

If you are putting them on a new set of Losi wneels, the Black Rhinos, you might be in good shape. I didn't try them as I wasn't confident that they were significantly stronger than the 1st gen wheels...which I cracked 3 of pretty quickly.

The Losi black Rhino wheels are stronger than the original wheels, however, I have yet to find just the black Rhino wheels for sale. They are always mounted with the stock tires. So, unless you buy them and bake/boil the stock tires off and then clean them up, you aren't going to be able to put the proline tires on them. I wish they did sell them by themselves because I would like to try the Proline tires as well.

I have the Black Rhino wheels and am pretty tempted to try the Proline tires, but I have no idea if they will fit. Proline says that they are perfect for the Losi Baja Rey but they also say that they may require body trimming.

FWIW, I'm running them on lower-offset wheels and haven't found a need to trim the body.

Thanks for the info. Just to clarify, by lower offset wheels, do you mean that the wheels are pushed out further than stock? Or, to put it another way, your wheels have less backspacing than the stock wheels? Is that what you're saying?

Correct, less backspacing.

Awesome. Sounds like they should work fine on the stock wheels, then. Thank you!

Does anyone know how the offset of Proline 2745-03 wheels compare to the factory Baja Rey wheels? Do they push the wheels out more or suck them in more?

Without having the exact dimensions handy, the Protrac wheels you listed would suck the wheels IN compared to stock, Slash rear/4x4 pushes them out a couple mm's. The protrac wheels have positive offset meant to pull the wheels back to their stock location when running protrac arms (which are something like 10mm wider than stock) on a Traxxas slash, I'd imagine they'd probably be quite a bit too narrow for the BR. I'm still all about the Yeti SCORE SLW wheels with either a .225 or .185 hub.
