Hey guys, just picked up the Rock Rey. Fantastic truck. Really impressed so far. I'm solely running 2S; what does the BJR need to be really reliable? I guess the RR will be virtually the same. I believe the Metal Concept 3rd member bulletproofs the rear end; what else do I need to update? All new bearings? What type of greases should I use for the diffs etc as I read they weren't greased from the factory (I just have silicon grease currently)? Is someone coming out with a bulletproof front diff setup? I will be trailing only with my son. Has anyone compared this to a Yeti? I wanted another for my son but saw a cheap second hand Yeti for sale. |

Well, it happened tonight. I burned something up again and it's making nasty noises. I just don't think in stock drive-line this truck is cut out for 3s. I was chasing the dog around the yard and I noticed as I cut tighter turns a high pitch, shrill sound. Assuming I galled a bearing, but have not had a chance to break everything down yet. I thought I had everything pretty well bullet proofed with pre-emptive action and parts at this point, but |

What were you doing with the truck when it happened? They don't seem that floppy to me. Never had the issue you are talking about.

Driving it lol it also happen on my son's truck. If you take one finger and put on the upper Kingpin and push back you can push it back far enough to drop the dog bone out. I wish I had an extra hand here to show how easy they bend Last edited by greengoblin; 02-27-2017 at 09:34 AM. |

A better upper a arm would stop this movement. Limmit straps are ok but still see them poping out. Im also looking in to using rock ray front shafts due to the fact they telescope. The lower arms seem to be fine.

if the upper a arm is bending then the dogbone still wont fall out. the upper arm bending in causes the dogbone to be pushed farther in. its called auto camber gain when that arm flexes. yeah, its ridiculous. but I still race the hell out of mine and never yet had that happen. never.

Rock Rey front shafts seem beefy and solid thus far.

If I can't drive the truck at speed without it droping the front dog bones. Its useless to me and cannot do the intended task that it was designed an advertised to do. It disable the steering when the dog bone pops out. This will eventually damaging more due to the daog bone flopping around in there it could kill the servo, knuckle, shock the dogbone its self at 35 bucks. which I've already replaced because it broke after being kicked out of drive cup. Let me drive it slow so it will stay together Last edited by greengoblin; 02-27-2017 at 08:19 PM. |

| Re: Losi Baja Rey 1/10th 4WD RTR desert truck Got the 3rd member from metal concepts and I'm loving it. My rey was down for a few weeks waiting for a new rear axle cuz of the back order. I'm so happy I stumbled upon this post. Just wanted to say thanks for all the info you guys have been sharing. |

Just picked up a Rock Rey to go with my Baja Rey. Ordered a pair of 3rd members from Metal Concepts and a whack of Losi aluminum for the Rock Rey. Pretty excited to get it rebuilt and start beating on it.

Something else is wrong if the axles are falling out. It's not the A-arms.

While browsing a local rc group's page, I saw a picture of a Rock Rey's rear axle and noticed that it has extra ribbing (as compared to the Baja Rey) from the pumpkin to the axle tubes. Losi shows the same LOS232001 as the Baja Rey though? Hmmm, I wonder what other changes were made without new part numbers? I'll have to meet up with those guys and check it out. ...and just for you mah gazer's: I ran 3 more 7200mah 3s packs through the BR and the front diff hasn't exploded (again) yet. |

Looking at the manual for the rr on horizon's website, the front a-arms, shock towers, and knuckles are a different design than the br. The rr uses an extra piece at the knuckle. Not sure if the distance between the pivot points on the front end are similar enough to use the rr front axles. If they can be used you will need rr specific diff stub shafts and bearings though.
