I don't know yet. I only used my Baja Rey a few times and haven't touched it again. I do have a MC third member for it though so when I get to it I'll let you know if I see any differences.

if my Baja rey doesn't need the mc 3rd member, then why do half of you put one on yours?

I think a lot of owners are trying to beef up the axle to withstand 3S operation.

I would argue that the Rock Rey/Baja Rey deserve their own section as much as the Yeti/TT do.

do you guys need to replace your chassis yet? I do. if you haven't shimmed your pinions you should have in the plastic case.

Yes they are shimmed. My chassis is fine but I have had to replace my teknos chassis. I race that.

Replaced my 3rd pinion bearing in rear and 2nd in the front and there shimmed. Running on 2s. This truck needs larger pinnion bearings

ive only had to replace mine once. you must not have shimmed it right, or your tightening the 3rd member screws down too much. as far as the front goes.. idk what your problem is.

ive raced my Baja rey so much im surprised my bearings even survived. hell, im surprised my truck survived both race seasons. im on my 6th body change.

I thought we just went over this? CM9000 is the most bad assed toy car player wither out there. Everybody else is doing it wrong.

Greengoblin: I really think the housings are the problem, not the bearings. If you are replacing bearings, check to be sure that the new bearing fits in the housing snug, otherwise you'll still have sloppy gear mesh even with good bearings and proper shimming. I've replaced the front housing twice, and the last time both pinion bearings were still good. This time, I used an entire tube of super glue on the seam of the front housing, mostly near the outer pinion bearing, in an effort to keep the halves from spreading apart under load. 7) 7200 3s packs through it since then, and so far, so good. Rear end has been trouble free since the MC 3rd.

It is partially the housing and the work angle and bearing size. I went through with my axial yeti that has a larger pinion bearing but not by much. The bearings are to small for the speed and torque there being ran at inturn overheating the bearing. With the week housing it will let the pinion climb up the ring gear. This in turn increasing the work angle. I replaced the axle in my 4 times and replaced them all within weeks after being built with all new parts and top dollar bearings, gears locker and straps in my yeti. I went to a ssd Dimond witch has large pinion bearing and after 2 years the only thing i have had to do is replace a bent axle shaft.

The gear ratio is different. And looks like spiral vs standard cut as well.

Baja is 40T and 14T.
Rock is 42T and 12T.

It's funny you say that, because beyond your comments in this thread, even though the Baja Rey was only released in/around April of 2006 and the Rock Rey in December of 2016, I don't see a single thread created by you about a rock Rey/Baja Rey you own or even posts in another members thread showing one you may have owned.

One of the main criteria for new sections for new RCs is usually the traffic and new threads generated about them, additionally their general popularity along with aftermarket part demands and availability.

I personally do not find them anywhere close to popular enough for their own section.

I hardly crash. you race your Baja rey? videos or it didn't happen.

you all are just not doing something right if your truck is down all the time because of a bearing or a housing or something. I probably put more packs through my rig than anyone else.

Hopefully a rear aluminum housing with dual 5x13 bearings!

Definitely curious what they have in store.
