Bumping thread b/c I have same question.
Just saw a used/beat up one in my LHS, looked sick.
I saw some vids on YT of it running fast, looks fun. Saw only 1 vid of a guy trying to crawl, but the open diffs and lack of driving skills had the RR bouncing around and didn't look fun at all.

Maybe lock rear diff to get a bit more crawling and bashing out of it, without sacrificing some of the high speed play/bashing (or lock both diffs for more crawling)?

Any input? I'm really digging this thing.

I am no expert, and I don't have a Rock Rey yet, but I do have a Twin hammer which is basically a smaller Rock Rey.

From the factory these trucks are set up for Ultra4 style rock racing (King of Hammers) and not designed for go slow crawling. The Rock Rey doesn't have front or center lockers, so that hurts it in the slow, technical stuff. The Twin Hammers is pretty much the same design however, and I've turned mine into an incredibly capable crawl machine.

I am sure you could do the same with a Rock Rey by locking the front and center, swapping the motor for a slow crawler motor, putting in a crawler ESC, and tweaking the suspension and the like. The open wheel design, IFS, and huge articulation in the rear help a lot in technical crawls. But, the tub body has its drawbacks from a crawling perspective as well.

I would be curious to see a video of it crawling. Personally I see it as a rig for ripping shit up, though I do not own nor have ever tried one. I would be inclined to compare it more to a Yeti than a TH due to its size. The Yeti is not a crawler, not even close, from my experience. The Bomber is a crawler!

Someone please post a crawling vid of their RR.

I agree the RR looks amazing.

So I have mine setup for crawling and trail running. I installed a bunch of items to help me get there, you can check on my somewhat up to date thread here including pics. Cat's Rock Rey

I have some older videos after I got it and put in my current power system, nothing impressive (don't judge too hard) but shows you it can get the job done. While the low chassis plate hinders the break over angle, its made up for in its low center of gravity and the power to just shoot over anything.

Its not going to crawl like a rock crawler. The low wide flat chassis plate gets hung up way too much. Its still great for a few rocks and trails. Its a blast to take to a local park and climb all over things while hauling butt on the flat parts, but its not going to do technical rock climbs like an SCX10.2 could.

Here are a couple of my videos:

I crawl with my RR. with a Mamba Monster X and a Tekin sensored pro4hd. it has really smooth start up. Lots a power. It's not going to crawl like a dedicated crawler. It takes as we call it "Yeti Style" driving.
