Default Blown front gears

I just blew my front gears. I locked my center diff, and each time I landed from a jump, it made a "gear stripping" sound. After looking at the web, someone stated that the factory open diff in the center acts like a slipper clutch, is there some truth to this? Is there a way to add a clipper clutch after locking the center diff?

Either way, looks like I'm getting the SSD aluminum bulkhead and a new set of gears.

FYI, the gears are at a great price on Amazon at the moment, but the system is having issues not letting me place an order.

A center diff does behave like a slipper, in fact it's way better than a slipper in many respects but not so good for crawling. Unless someone makes a slipper for it, there's no way of adding one. I doubt the space layout inside would allow one either.

I thought it was a stripped ring and pinion... nope, it's the carrier screws. Traxxas 2523 screws have been ordered.

You might as well add Hot Racing #VTH11C to your order. Being that your screws are broken, there's a high likelihood that the screw holes in the plastic diff cup are also fubar'd, the above part is an aluminum diff cup/carrier (meant for a Twin Hammers) that is a direct drop in replacement. Between the SSD bulkhead, hardened screws, and aluminum carrier, the front diff is as reliable as it can get.

I’ve been looking all over. As of last week the HR Diff Cup is on backorder. If you find a place that has them in stock please let me know.

Same here, no luck finding them in stock. I was given advice that the Traxxas screws with stock Losi carrier has been solid.
