| Monster Tires on RR basher
I'm sure I'm not the first to try it, but I'm not seeing any RRs out there wearing 2.8 monster wheels rather than the scaler-looking 2.2s. The Maxxis Creepy Crawlers and factory foams were barely allowing the thing to corner without traction-rolling, so I stopped at the LHS to try some much lower profile Badlands MX28s (I'll throw up a pic when the second set is installed...she's used and already floating around on this forum). So I'm sure it can be made to handle better on 2.2s, and definitely looks "cooler," but any downside to the route I'm taking? She's going to be strictly a basher, so a 30% wider tread should be nothing but good for traction... Oh, and entire drive system is nothing stock (3000kV Pro4 HD and Mamba Monster X, etc). Go 2.6 clod wheels. The RR would look awesome with some Jconcepts renegades and tributes.

I mounted Panther Boa MT tires on RPM Stable maxx 17 mm hex wheels with Traxxas 17 mm T Maxx adapters. I use these when I want to bash on less rocky terrain. The RR will slide easier so it is less apt to traction roll. |
