Question Upgrade questions

Hello,

I just acquired a rock rey yesterday and I'm looking forward to upgrading it
I already upgraded the front and rear links and trailing arms, bought a set of proline shocks to have a total of 2 in the front and 4 in the rear, a set of 2.2 hyrax and some alientac wheels which are on the way
I'm looking to actually also buy a vanquish rear axle next month
but I've been looking for the front shock tower in aluminum but I can't find any results, is the front tower from the baja rey able to be fitted into the rock rey by any chance?
the rear tower I already found it from HR but it seems the front tower doesn't exist in aluminum

You are correct there is no aluminium front shock tower , only a front shock tower brace which is made by Hot Racing , definitely get the front bulkhead it will save you money in the long run !

Front bulkhead and third member then servo mount is the real areas that need sorting. It's pretty durable otherwise.

I’m in the same boat with a new RR, after I get the bulkhead and 3rd member, any other stuff I should do? Shimming diffs? Better screws in the diff or axles? Diff cups? Etc.?? I’ve read about some issues with the hexes or something?
I plan on locking the center and either locking the front, or million weight oil up front.
Thanks!!

Stock bearings are rubbish. Locking the diffs will lead to problems eventually.

Agreed stock bearings are shite , so is the plastic servo horn.
As long as the screws in diffs are upgraded traxxas 2523 and washers have been upgraded to X-ray washers then locking the diffs won’t lead to problems Iv locked the centre but the front has putty in it which works well ,
The thing I break the most is the hex pins which is an easy fix out on the trail as apposed to the dreaded diff screws

Cool! Thanks for the advice! Any part # for the X-ray washers? And where do they go? Diff shims?
Thanks!

The washers are found behind each crown gear at either end of the diff cup

I am thinking of picking one up today and wondering how quickly to upgrade the parts that we can find available. There are. few pic's on here with HR items on their RR and they look good. Not looking forward to all the un-screwing to access it.

If you undo just the shock towers screws and 6 belly screws loosen the side screws around the dash area you can bring the majority of the cage forward hinging from around the dash/console area saves removing the front shock tower but if you need to do the front diff then unfortunately it’s a tear down but it’s not that bad after the first 6or7 times ,
Luckily you’ve joined the club after all the weak points have been identified, sort them out and you’ll be happily playing for quite sometime I expect before anything breaks
