Default What gearing options do we have?

I already bought a 10 tooth pinion but was wondering if there are other options to gear down/up the rock rey? Anything that can be done to the differentials?

Ultimately, I am trying to decide on a brushless sensored motor and have narrowed it down too a Puller Pro BL 540 in a 2700 kV or 3500 kV. I am not looking for all out speed, I am more concerned about smooth crawling and low speed performance.

I don't believe so. I just got a Baja Rey that came with a 13 tooth installed and I replaced it with the included 10 tooth until I learn how to control this thing. Looks like only one ring and pinion ratio available.

Baja Rey ring/pinion fit, but you'd be better off sticking with the bigger Rock Rey gears and going to a larger motor pinion instead... if higher speed was the goal. The Rock Rey gears are physically larger and have a larger contact patch, as well as lower gearing at the axle, which results in less torque twist than having higher axle gearing (even if both final drive ratios were ultimately the same by way of adjusting the motor pinions to match.) The 'Rey doesn't take anything special for motor pinion gears, just standard Mod1 with 5mm bore (same as most 1/8 buggies.) Remember, the stock esc will happily take 4s too.

Still learning about these rigs. I didn't know the Rock Rey and Baja Rey have different axle ratios. I'll have to look into this especially if you say that Rock Rey gears are stronger.

*Edit - Yup, the BR's axle ratio is 40/14 while the RR's is 42/12. I'll definitely be getting the RR ring and pinion gears when I can.
