| Mats Losi Rock Rey kit
Not going to go through the whole build process, just gonna share some pics and stuff With funds being a bit tight, I went a bit cheap on the electronics. A 32kg servo from Banggood, a 2600kv Surpass motor of eBay and a half decent Hobbywing 120A esc. I’ve run a handful of 3s packs through it so far and it all seems to be holding up well I removed the battery door a used a Velcro strap to let me use some 5000mah packs I had from when I had some large quads. My biggest pack sticks out about 10mm and the strap solution works a treat. Also printed up a XT60 adapter. I’ve installed a few hopups like the Boom racing rear link mounts and front top link mount, Losi trailing arms and a set of really nice panels from javis929 on eBay. Took a risk on a dirt cheap set of GDS racing shocks, set of 107mm for the front and a set of 127mm for the rear. They’re a Proline clone with 3.5mm shafts and all alloy parts. So far they have performed excellent, not leaked and feel really smooth. The only down side is because every part is alloy the spring perch/slider rub/grinds on the alloy body. So as a trial I’ve been running the springs upside down and so far haven’t seen any negative side effects. I do have a few set of original Proline shocks and all external parts are interchangeable, so you could use the plastic sliders from the Proline rebuild kits. Got some footage of the first run, I had a quite a few hard tumbles, some you’ll see on this vid.... I was surprised how much abuse the Losi took. Unfortunately it did end in tears I snapped a shock shaft from a 6ft vertical nose dive. I really can’t blame the shaft for breaking with all that force behind it. Looks great. What tyres are those? I'm running hyrax but due to the locked rear and grip there's no way it will turn like yours does.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4PCS-2-2-...frcectupt=true I wanted something a little bit more scale than the stock tires. I have just ordered the Losi open rear diff for mine to help with the rear end stepping out under power. I'll add my findings to this thread when its all fitted

That's awesome. Was considering buying the open diff myself but not sure how easy it would be to seal them. Id want to keep enough oil in them to help when crawling.

They come with o-ring seals, so shouldn't be a problem. I've use similar diffs in the past, with a heavy weight oil I've never had any issues... fingers crossed

| Re: Mats Losi Rock Rey kit Thanks dude I’ve added my open rear diff to the Losi and I love it. It really works for the way I drive. I didn’t get the rear switching ends at all. Will totally suck for crawling though lol A little slo mo vid of the diff installed. Also side swiped a juicy rock.... it’ll buff out eh!! Last edited by mat; 05-10-2019 at 02:56 PM. |

I picked up some of those panels for my RR. They look so much better than the stock body.
