Question for the Losi racers

1 Attachment(s)
I am in the proscess of building a RTR Rock Rey into a racer, I have read a lot about the highs and lows on these rigs but wondering what the U4RC guys that are track racing these are putting in the front diffs for fluid weight? I do have the Exotek front diff carrier as well as the SSD front housing. back in my 1/8 scale truggy and buggy days I would run 2000 rear,10,000 center and 5000 in the front. I'm pretty sure most are running the rear locked and I think the rules say the center has to be locked anyway

Id love some more info on this as well. Im am building up my RR now and would appreciate some tuning advice. My plans are to make it a trail toy and crawler. There is a local park working on a track so hopefully that too in the future.

I ran 500,000 wt in the front and even then its true crawling capability was pretty meh. You really need to lock the front to crawl well, which I also did at one point.

I have dedicated crawlers but just want to improve the Rock Rey’s ability to get over challenge obstacles i come across while trailing.

So can somebody explain what locking the center diff does exactly? What are the pro’s and con’s? I’ve read that it takes away stability at higher speeds. Why? Ive never had something with 3 diffs so its new to me.

Re: Question for the Losi racers

The center differential (well, any differential) transfers power to the wheels with the least resistance. Locking that makes sure there is equal power sent to the front and rear diffs. Lighter fluids allow power to "bleed" easier to the wheels with the least traction.
