Today I went and saw my friend Josh at Beneath The Bark Woodworking - Custom Furniture and Cabinetry - Bath Maine to get some wood veneer for the beginning of the 10-II's XJ body mods. I spent a half hour sorting through his veneer scraps until I found the perfect pieces to do the "Woody" effect along the center of the beltline. I chose a Black Walnut with a tiger stripe pattern for the panels. Then I chose a tight grained White Maple to cut into strips for the borders of each individual panel. I found 2 walnut strips that were definitely cut consecutively from the same board because they are 99.9999% identical. That way both sides will look identical! I'm using a solid piece between the wheel wells so the grain pattern is disturbed only by the maple trim. These will be absolutely gorgeous with 3 coats of clear gloss poly on them. I'll be using Shoe Goo to glue them on. Stay tuned! |

The cool thing about a design flaw or weakness is, that somebody has printed a part that fixes it. I've seen a few parts I plan on printing to sturdy up the chassis. |

Decided to move the battery in the 10-2, didn't like where it was. This should be much better.

I started cutting the veneer for the XJ Woody. The pics do it absolutely zero justice... Without the flash, the color isn't as bold. With it, it's hard to see the colors past the reflective capacity of the tiger stripes. After some research I found that the woodgrain effect is not bordered on all sides of each panel(fender, doors, rear quarters), but is bordered on the top and bottom of the woodgrain effect along the entire length of the belt line. Like this: So, I guess I'll do a strip along the top and bottom, and draw the door and fender seams on with a black pen. Maybe??? |

Lol it's just a test cube cylinder thingy. I plan on print some RC parts later. Wheel hex's, sliders, shock hoops. Just for fun. See how they perform. |
