Boston Crawlers - Purgatory Chasm - March 31st - Outdoor Event #1

Hello Everyone,

It's that time of year again, time to get outside and do some crawling. Boston Crawlers outdoor season is kicking off with a bang. Our first event will be at Purgatory Chasm in Sutton MA.

http://www.suttonmass.org/seasons/pu.../purg_1919.jpg

While this event is the first for our outdoor season it is also the first of our 5 nationals qualifier events. All competitors will get points towards our outdoor series, but only the Pro class competitors will get points towards the nationals qualifier.

Boston Crawlers typically offers free crawling competitions, but for this event we needed to secure an event permit with the DCR so there will be a $5 per head charge.

Registration will begin at 10:00am and the competition will begin at 10:30. There will be three courses for both sportsman and pro class. We will be using the 2011 version of the USRCCA rules until the 2012 version is officially released.

You can use a GPS to the following address.

190 Purgatory Rd. Sutton MA

When you get to the park you will drive in towards the back of the park. It will be the last parking lot on your left.

For those of you that have not been to purgatory chasm you may want to put aside some time to check it out, the chasm is pretty cool. The rangers at Purgatory where kind enough to let us use their park, but I have to say they are a little apprehensive. When you are in the area around the chasm (where all the people are) please do not use your trucks, there is plenty of rock in the area we will be crawling to keep you occupied.

Hope to see you all there,

Saturday looks like partly sunny and 51* so far.

Bob, i can loan you a spare if you want, it's a metal gear no name one i had on my nite crawler, works good and it's quick and has more than enough torque. Let me know and i can throw it in my bag and meet you there a little early if ya want.

Definitely excited for Saturday.

Brendan and I got together to put together all the stuff for the Event and found a nice package on my doorstep. Just in case you were not aware AXIAL rules. They sent us some prizes for the season that I know everyone will enjoy.

See you all Saturday, Bring your "A" game.

Looking forward to it too. Went up to New Hampshire yesterday to pickup a ton of parts for my LNC. Should have it all in tomorrow. I don't think I will have time to make the roll cage for it so that will have to be next time.

Well got everything done except the swap out of the tranny gears. Plastic ones are still in. Everything else seems to have made a nice improvement. Took it out to Ames Nowell State park today for the first time and it zipped right up the large rocks there. Found a couple of my beadlock screws are stripped so I am gonna have to figure out how to get them out and new ones in.

Also, did not get a chance to work on a cage for it, so I am sticking with the regular LNC body for now. guess I will get to work on the cage next week if the weather warms up a bit.

Looks like we might get some flurries but hopefully nothing we can't handle. We will see you all tomorrow at 10:00. If the weather looks terrible in the morning we will make a call. Check this thread in the morning for notice. No news is good news.
