Boston Crawlers - Hammond Pond - August 11th - NETC #2
 

Boston Crawlers is hosting our 7th event in our outdoor series this Saturday in Brookline Ma, at Hammond Pond Park.

Not only is this the seventh outdoor event, but it is also the second stop on the NETC tour. Some of you may have visited this location two years ago, and if you did you may remember that there are some pretty stout lines coming your way.

Parking is a short walk away at the Chestnut Hill Mall, at 300 Hammond Pond Parkway, Brookline, Ma. There is a small trail through the woods to the north, and the entrance to the park is on the north side of the Temple (see map). As you walk in to the park there is a large rock face with graffiti on it, keep that on your right and continue to walk into the woods. At the bottom of the hill you will see a large rock feature and that is where course 1 will be set up.

Registration will begin at 10:00 and and the event will begin at 10:30.

I remember this one, it was awesome!
Unfortunately I won't be able to make it, as it's my rehearsal dinner (no gettin' out of that one boys), hope everyone has fun!

Seriously, for Saturday. 70% chance of showers and/or thunderstorms.

Any chance this gets moved to Sunday? Do you run in light rain waiting out the heavy stuff?

promised the family a day at 6 flags - looking like sunday is the best day for the family and the comp. If you change it to sunday I'll try to convince Emily to get wet in the wet.

Moving the event to Sunday. Sorry for those who made sacrifices to do it on Saturday. Better to not be rained out.

We are going to be starting things on time and trying to streamline the process cause I have an obligation in the mid afternoon.

NOAA says 50% chance of t storms... Which is normal for any summer day in new england. I'm bringing the umbrella in case we need to wait 15min while it rains.

Thanks to everyone who rolled the dice with the weather and made it out today. Mamma Nature cooperated and didn't rain on us at all, though most of us were soaked through with the 95% humidity :mrgreen:

The courses today were great and it showed that Hammond Pond still has some tricks up its sleeves. Course 1 started things off pretty well, though there was a boundary on the first gate that reminded some drivers who was boss. While none of the gates were total ball busters they all wound up taking some time and the clock was the biggest challenge for people on this course. Bob F. showed us how it was done and took the win on this course.

Things had dried off by the start of course 2 and we took advantage off the puddingstone rock here at Hammond. Course 2 had a descent mix of climbs, drops and off cambers, while having to negotiate some treacherous drops and a bridge to the finish line. Congrats to Brian D on scoring first on this course.

Brendan set course three for us and took the opportunity to use all of the Bonus gates that were not attempted on course 1 and mixed them in as mandatory gates on this course. Gate 5 was a stout undercut and definitely proved a challenge for a couple of the drivers. Brendan showed us how things are supposed to be done, with a sneaky opening move. He pulled the win out on the final course.

With only a handful of points between 1st and 4th ultimately it was Rob in third, Bob F. in second, and Brian clinching the win by only 4 points.
