I was in Baaaastan a couple years ago and yes they had a classic regional accent. I met a guy at the train station from Italy that had lived there for a few years and his Italian accent was morphing into a Boston / Italian accent.... i'm from central ma and have live in this area my whole life. when ever i meet up with friends from upstate new york they always pick on my accent..seem to always leave the R's out.

New Yark and Cleveland are close to the same sound. Didn't realize it til I left Cleveland and people made fun of me. Then I went to New York. It's all about living on the Saint Lawrence Seaway.
