Looks good so far! Did you eat yet??? Axles, tranny look beefy, the intermediary driveshaft easy enough to grind some flats and use Junfac, MIP, etc. driveshaft in there if stock breaks.

Portals look like Stampede 2wd differential parts and those hold up really well ime.

Can't wait to see how beefy the portals are.

Molded metal gears.

They fit perfectly. These are from traxxas # 5525 package. You would have to use 4mm links and grub screws of course.

Shocks are next... good news is the axles are next, lol

As a side note, these are not spruce tree parts, no trimming of plastics required and much appreciated!

I hate building shocks but these weren't bad. They measure at 70mm eye to eye and are smooth.

Rally interesting how they chose to do the axle c.. it seems overly huge?

It is an interesting kit though. Thanks for sharing

I would assume they are reducing the effect of stress on steering components and strength. My MadMoose Portals are styled like a more conventional C hub.

This is looking very interesting...What are your thoughts with axle durability, i.e., axle shafts, ring & pinion, portal gears?

How did the bushings in the portals seem? I have 16 ball bearing to replace those bushings on the way.

Yeah not sure I just think the Cs look cool not that they will be practical.

with longer rod ends, we can easily raise wheelbase, it's a good thing

The only thing I didn't like on the pinion gear is they use c-clips on the snout and the output. Not my preferred design. The portal gears are held together well and seem to be pretty stout.

The cvd's are odd as well, the clips are a right and left design and seem overly complex just to hold the cross pin. I prefer the vaterra spiral ring design.

The bushings are normal bronze, bearings are of course better but the pressure load on the idlers isn't that high and more to support gear load between drive and driven.

My Madmoose designed portals don't have the extra idlers and have no issue supporting high loads without them.
