| MST CFX... Out with the old in with the CFX...
OK, sold up my Vaterra. The engineer in me really liked the transmission on this little rig- even though it is hidden from sight. Few build pics, but guess you've seen those before. Was going to fit the Jeep Rubicon body, but decided in the end to go with a Loops Pajero... Axle mount servo is a bit er, poo. Catches on the chassis, stops flex and vertical upward movement. Home made CMS, got a better one to fit yet... Undecided on whether to get some 10mm longer shocks and run it in droop more, but with the highish motor, maybe less flex is more stable. and TBH, the stock shocks are half decent- not leaked yet... Nice! Can't really tell how you chassis mounted the servo? Did you use a 3D printed bracket?

Went on Exclusive RC site and could not locate the chassis bracket. I think i know the one you talking about on Shapeways(see below), but wasn't this one or the Dinky one also listed below would work with the CFX as the trans might be in the way?? Also the Dinky one does not look to have panhard like the Shapeways one from Bedroom RC. Is a panhard necessary for this type of setup? https://www.shapeways.com/product/VZ...li=marketplace https://www.dinkyrc.com/products/mst...nted-servo-kit Last edited by MAGNUMB; 12-08-2017 at 05:32 PM. |

That is indeed the one from Shapeways, it may need a bit of fudging... But we shall see! I dont have it currrently setup with a panhard rod, but you do get some bump steer with a fourlink setup, so I will be changing my setup to panhard to eliminate this. |

And a 35t motor to fit, paint should be done later this week hopefully. And then out for its maiden test on 30th... |

Does that servo mount work on the CFX-W too?

How does the really short wheelbase perform? Thinking of using one of these chassis's with the new Samurai body. |

But I guess at least 50X better than the stock CC-01 Chassis!! Definitely sounds like something I'd like to try under my Landfreeder. Best start saving my pennies! | |

Well, it was surprisingly capable out of the box. But as ever nothing ever stays the same for long, so I did some mods...Brass links and homemade beeftubes for the axles. Took me ages to make some sliders & lowered the battery in the rear. And then went and bought a Sumo body for it. 20180311_122626 by Peter Rathbone, on Flickr Last run out with it is over some pretty tough terrain in the Staffs peak district. High grip rocks, lots of mud and in the end the CVD's popped. Need to adjust the slipper methinks... Also added longer shocks for more travel and now running them in droop to get the COG lower and prevent this: 29597266_1826677940699507_983419792690889886_n by Peter Rathbone, on Flickr Last edited by Old n ratty; 04-20-2018 at 03:55 AM. |

And in a new turn of events, now with narrowed Ascender axles... Mainly as I believe these will be stronger and easier to get hold of in the UK... 30742307_2062163380669074_9117513428154449920_n by Peter Rathbone, on Flickr 31069104_2062163500669062_8649381096904982528_n by Peter Rathbone, on Flickr 31071098_2062163567335722_920185516123488256_n by Peter Rathbone, on Flickr Axles are higher geared than before, a 45T Holmes hobbies torque master should bring it back to what it was before and as everything is new in there, a bit of fettling will still be required. |

Thank you for the compliment! Compared with some on here it's nowt! I am liking the chassis mount servo, main reason for moving it was that it actually caught the rails. Granted only in vertical motion, but nonetheless irritating... Works well with the Shapeways bracket. |

I really like this build. The CMS caught my eye. I think it would be cool on this little rig. I like your choice of bodies for this rig. It's very cool. |

And arrived from Hong Kong today (and just fitted) are the Samix shock mounts. Very nice bits of kit... Photo tomorrow... And again, thanks for the kind words! Also on the to do list is a bent steering link, its just fouling the servo arm on compression, articulation OK, just vertical is compromised. Last edited by Old n ratty; 04-24-2018 at 02:57 PM. |
