Default OnTs CFX build

My kit from MST showed up today. Wish I could dig into it now. Taking the wife to Jim Gaffigan though.

Looks like a minor tweak to the box. They placed a sticker over the main features. Only difference I find is the addition of the 313 wheel base. They also included an insert on how to build the links.

Day two was boom racing link kit, shocks and portal axles. Then getting it all put together.

Overall, the kit was a good build. You really have to pay attention to the order of the steps. Still no motor or esc but will shop for that soon.

Also, is it possible to swap the pinion to one that isn't M06? A 32 or 48p that would work ?

The ol lady might be pissed but I stopped and picked up everything short of the funky pinion gear to get this rig running. Motor, esc and servo. Decided to go with the 91 4runner body for the shell.

I did run the tires over the weekend at a crawl sponsored by hobbytown. I was pleasantly surprised by how well they did on the K5. My son had it going over, under and through all types of terrain. Not saying they're the best mind you but capable.

Nice! I was considering the 4-runner body for my second CFX-W, but I got my hands on a Deadbolt body for a good price. I mainly wanted the cage and lights, and might get the pro-line bronco body that uses it.

We have the same idea on a bodyshell. Does it need long body posts in the rear? Interested to see how you mount it

If I remember correctly, the kit does provide long enough body posts to reach the rear of the 4-runner body.

Thanks for the info. I actually havent ordered my kit yet, just doing some research. It seems like a good kit and a few of my buddies ran it on G6 this year.

Looks like bearings, links and axle shafts are a good upgrade to get

As Soze stated, the kit includes more than enough posts. I'm only using the uprights as of now. They include braces and more extensions.

Had to cut the front posts way down to get the nose to sit right. My plan is to fit it with some magnets.

Still waiting to drive this thing! Pinions shipped out of China a couple days ago. Should arrive late next week. Hoping to get the electronics installed this weekend. Dreading it as I HATE soldering.

Shell is painted. Still need to tweak the stance and trim around the fenders.

AAAARRRRRGHHHH!! So, I was hoping that my pinion gear set would arrive this week. It was initially scheduled to. Just checked Amazon and it's been delayed until the 11th now. So very irritating having a truck that can't go anywhere.

Build is looking good!

Amain and RPP both carry mod 6 pinion. I believe that Tower does, too. It is used in Tamiya kits, so almost any place that sells Tamiya will have them.

Nice, it's a pretty sweet truck. I was impressed when I took mine out for a run. I'm just trying to figure out the right suspension combo for mine now.

Nice looks good in white. I wanted to paint mine white but was afraid of how that line from the front fender would look.

Actually kind of regretting white for the main color. Loving the truck so far though.

I run 2200 Mah 2s on a Hobbywing 1080 with a brushed 35T RC4WD motor. Not sure if I did this or my boy. Just glad they throw in a couple of spares with the kit.
