Default Chino63's MST CMX Bronco

Thought I'd share my new 1.55 rig. It's an MST CMX with Tamiya Bronco body. I've had the body painted for quite awhile and it just sat in a bag and the kit was under the tool box for a bit as well so I thought I'd get it going before the RPP Jamboree.

I decided to go with a mildly modified appearance like most 1:1 Bronco's I see. I used a piece of Maddogrc C-channel frame rail for the retro looking bumpers and fitted it with a Maddogrc slim light bar. I will eventually build sliders and inner fenders for it and may do a minimal interior. Tires/wheels I've had for years. They are RC4WD Rock Crushers on RC4WD 1.55 glue on wheels. The winch is from 3racing and will be fitted with a Maddogrc winch upgrade kit as soon as I get it wired.
I have to admit, its a pretty well built kit with great fit and finish. It seems to handle exceptionally well too. I'm really liking the more realistic and better proportioned rigs compared to the humongous tire builds. Although less capable, the added realism is a refreshing take on this part of the hobby.

Love the Bronco. I agree with you about the more proportioned rigs. My CMX looks better than my Axial and handles so well that I actually prefer driving it....that's not to say I don't enjoy the Axial. But the CMX just scratches that itch I've had for the hobby for a long time.

Yep, I love the more scale, realistic rigs. So much more fun to drive. More of a challenge.

Love the Bronco. It looks great, nice and simple, not over done.

Looks awesome Dean, very proportionate build glad to see you found a use for that body, I remember you showing it to me some time back.

Sounds good but why put an Axial trans in it? There are bearing kits available on eBay if you need them.

Agreed, I feel the same about satisfying that itch. Always loved the more scale aspect. Not talking about all the "accessories" people glue to their rigs (which is fine if that's what they like).

Yes sir, I'm glad I got some scratches on it. The wait was worth it, this thing handles amazingly well!

It looks very well proportioned. Those bumpers are nice and tasteful as well. Great work!

Wow, that looks great! I'd even be caught driving a '73 Bronco if it looked that good!

My Bronco is not going to look that good. I bought it specifically to have a vehicle to use my Chisel 1.9" tires.

Very clean build Dean. I've been looking at these trucks myself.
I feel you on the more scale aspect side of the hobby. I'm getting pretty burned out on all these ultra competitive sporty inspired rigs that are popping onto the scene. I just got my first TF2 kit to start a C1 expedition blazer build off of to help get my head straight.

Love the look of your Bronco! I think I'll have to buy myself a MST CMX kit very soon. Thanks for sharing it.

Loving this little kit. Maybe for my birthday , I can swing one. I have spent entirely way too much on this hobby in the past few months.lol..

Always been a fan of the more realistic rc trucks.

I found the CMX surprisingly capable so far, even using the 1.5 MTZs on mine. I haven't had a problem with any plastic drivetrain parts either.

Agreed, it is very capable for its size. I have not had any issues with it either, except stripping gears in my Hitec 645 servo.

Very nicely done sir! Love the color and killer retro bumpers. Just gotta get that belt-line trim and the gas caps chromed and you'd be hard pressed to know it's a scaler

Since I have not posted any pictures of this in the dirt, I thought I'd better before I forget again. My daughter and I went to the Bean last weekend and she had a blast driving this around and exploring the coast and tide pools.

We started at the base of the (scale) mountain

Made our way out to the waters edge down a tight trail.

And finally made it to the rock garden

Steep climbs are no problem for the CMX
