| MST CMX Bronco My kids love driving my tiny trucks so I got each of my twins an MST CMX, this Bronco version and the other will use a Land Rover Defender hardbody. I'm really bad at painting so I was happy with how this body came out, only a couple bleed through sections and one glaring omission, I didn't paint the fender flares black. The sticker sheet had decals for the fenders, but I later realized they didn't cover the whole fender...ooops...Not sure what to do, in open to suggestions I'm not gonna post a play by play of the chassis assembly, I will say the only complaint I have about the MST kit is lack of ball bearings, but I've read some compelling cases for bushings in these low speed applications. I installed fast Eddie bearings on this one, maybe I'll do bushings on the other for comparison. I'm using a power HD 20kg servo, a 45t RC4WD motor and a New Rain 160A ESC. I have the same servo and and the next size bigger ESC on my HG P402 and I have had zero problems. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by spaceman5280; 04-26-2017 at 10:24 AM. |

I like option #2, but would think it might look better in white.

| MST CMX Bronco Here it is with white wheels, I like the white, but the wagon wheels have too much offset and are six lug. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by spaceman5280; 04-27-2017 at 09:51 AM. |

A white wheel definitely looks good in contrast to the blue and black.

Looks like a decent rig. Haven't heard or seen a whole lot about these rigs. I'm trying to find a (scale) rig for my old lady because I already have a body for her that she picked out, but its an 11.4 wheelbase. Trying to get something like the the regular cab TF2 Mojave or an old Dingo so that changing the links will not come into play as these are already 290mm (11.4) wheelbased rigs. Whats the wheelbase on this one? This might be a new option for me. |

242mm, 252mm and 267mm it's adjustable and believe the kit comes with everything to adjust. It's a good roller for tamiya bodies.

I'll let you know how they perform as soon as I get the electronics installed. The factory wheelbase options are 242mm(9.5") 252mm(9.9"), and 267mm(10.5") The Barbie Jeep project uses a CFX chassis, same as the CMX except front motor, was shortened to about 230mm(9") and it wasn't too bad. My Land Rover CFX is about 275mm(10. wheel base. These were all done with parts included in the kit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk | |

| Re: MST CMX Bronco Took the Bronco out to the rockpile today and it was fun I tried some lines I take with the other scalers and it was much more challenging. The steering range is really tight and the narrower track width and short wheelbase make it very nimble. It seemed like it had a lot of gear noise, I'll isolate the trans and axles to see what's wrong. The trans is all plastic gears so it's probably the mesh on the axle gears. It seemed to roll over easily, the battery sits really high and I put on wheels with more offset than stock so it is narrower. The receiver box is under the battery so I'm thinking about moving the receiver and mounting a shorty battery crossways in front of the motor to move the weight lower. I also ran the tires unglued because I'm painting the others white and theses wheels are for another project. I was able to bend the body posts back a little to address the wheels not aligning with the wheel wells. The kits comes with three sets of springs, soft, medium, and hard, I'm running soft and the suspension seems to work well and will probably work better as I as weight. | MST CMX Bronco First, I replaced the full size battery with a shorty to reduce weight up high and it seems more stable, then I installed 1.55 Mud Thrashers and took all the currently running scalers to the rockpile and the little CMX was pretty impressive. It couldn't quite keep up with the Ascender, it was closer to the the Komodo, and it outperformed the poor old HG. | MST CMX Bronco The stock tires weren't cutting it so I stole these off the D90 and cut the fenders for clearance. I also added sliders made for a CFX-w. The tires are taller and about the same grip as stock, but the wheel offset is a little wide even with 2mm narrower hexes. The sliders helped, the brackets bolt to the frame, but I had to trim the legs to get them closer to centerline and had to trim the length for steering clearance. |
