Default Off the shelf "custom" links for cmx

Just experimenting and making some semi custom links for the cmx using off the shelf parts, didn't really want to spend 50+ USD on links from mst

Measuring link length.

I decided to use Traxxas #5394 rod ends as I have had good luck with them and they come pretty cheap.

I removed a link from the cmx and using the screws that came with it I created a "jig" using some scrap wood.

I screws each end of the link into the wood with the Traxxas rod ends.

Then used some calipers to measure the actual link length that I need as the rod ends from the stock cmx as the Traxxas ones are different in length

Measurements:
(This will vary between wheelbase, but I'm running a odd wheel base with the Tamiya D90 Defender body)

Front upper: 50mm
From lower: 63mm
Rear upper: 55mm
Rear lower: 68mm

Price tally:
2 x trx#5349 : 8.00usd

Getting links

I with the measurements I had, I went looking for links, I came across these yeahracing links that are cheap and the right size. (M3 threaded, aluminium)

It didn't really matter that the links weren't exactly the same length, it can always be adjusted.

Next I also needed some land set screws for the build to I got some factory pro stainless set screws. I got a bunch of different sizes so see which will fit best.

Price tally:

2 x trx#5349 : 8.00 USD
1 x YA-0425 (50mm) : 3.50 USD
1 x YA-0426 (55mm) : 3.50 USD
1 x YA-0433 (60mm) : 3.50 USD
1 x YA-0434 (65mm) : 3.50 USD
1 x S-SS0316 (M3 x 16mm 10pc) : 3 USD
1 x S-SS0314 (M3 x 14mm 10pc) : 3 USD
1 x S-SS0320 (M3 x 20mm 10pc) : 3 USD

Rubbing total: 31 USD
