Szczerba's Wraith Monster Truck Build #2

15 Attachment(s)
Took the Snoopmax MT chassis and tweaked the design a little bit to come up with what you see below.

Had friend make the CAD modifications and cut it out in 1/8" delrin too.

13.5" wheelbase, 100mm shocks.

More parts coming in the mail. In Super-Mock up mode right now. HPI body is the only one I had laying around.

And then I stumbled upon a guy "SnoopMaxx" that had some CAD files of the chassis shown above. Made a few changes and had them cut by a friend with a CNC Router. Used 1/8" Delrin. Setup for a AX10 Skid and transmission. Wheelbase is 13.5"

Thanks Kent.
Should get this built up this week. All parts are sitting at the house. I've been at ECC the past couple days.

Got everything in for a mock up test run. Handles pretty good for being just under 7lbs. Will need a little bit of shock tuning and some mods to keep the rod ends on the Ti links.
Busted the upper cab because I left one cross brace off by accident. No fault in the chassis geometry, just me failing to see the brace holes cause the CNC didn't cut all the way through.
Modded up these clod wheels with some DLux beadlock faces and SLW hubs
Got in some OFNA and TXT wheels as well.

Thanks. Only issue I am having now it keeping the Ti links attached to the rod ends. Going to have to expoy them on. Also, the lower link rod ends are popping off the ball ends. Washers will fix that.

I should probably turn the throttle EPA down to 60% or so. :ror:

The truck is super light for a MT but the big 1lbs rubber weights on the end of the axles make it hand funky. Need to sand them down and see how soft I can get them. I have a second set of tires if I screw up the first.

Also, the wraith universal up front are pretty sloppy and cause some front end chattering need to shim them up or get some VP axle shafts.

Re: Szczerba's Wraith Monster Truck Build #2

My universals are sloppy too - gonna shim. Are you running stock foams in the tires? Maybe cut them a bit too for some better softness

Szczerba 05-02-2013 12:31 PM

Stock foams no trimming on this set. Ill hack up the other set. Foams and tires!

Have you had a look at the rpm rod ends? They might help out.

Made some brackets to double shear the lower link mounts
Shaved 0.5oz off each tire
Made some quick sway bars from coat hanger wire
Made a quick elecs tray
Figuring out a body mount set now

6.5lbs RTR without body

Did you have black boogers after sanding the tires? :lmao:

That's light. My Emaxx is right at 10 lbs rtr. And it's set up fairly light, one servo, no aluminum, race truggy wheels/tires, etc.

Nope. Sand tires away from the face. 1" desktop vertical belt sander.

Yep. Really light setup. No oil in the shocks. 20wt was a little too stiff. Traxxass big bores with Losi golds. Coat hanger sway bars helped out I kind like having the front sway bar only.
