| Re: Barbaric I currently run the Onfa wheels on my MT wheelset. I used to run the traxxas 17mm on those, but later switched to the printed 12 - 17mm hex adapters, and was getting some rounding out on one of the rears. Recently switched to 3s (geared lower). I wanted to switch to clod wheels, because the Onfa ones are slightly taller scale wise, but the adapters were always holding me back. The alloy ones seems pretty "set-it / forget it". With these massive clod-based tires, they seem like a no-brainer. See what I am saying about the height of the Onfas. Sidewall on the tires is short. Like a low-rider: |

I see, I will be using some IMEX wheels that are bigger OD like that on my KK2 with digger axles, kinda the only lightweight option for a decent track width I hear.

From pics I have seen if you use the B&H tires on the bigger wheels they don't look so low profile because its a larger tire.

Great build going. I sold my Barbarian a while back and wish I would have kept it. I have a KK2 on order and have been thinking about building another barbarian to have a go fast racer. I build a set of SCX/XR mod axles for my last barbarian. I ended up locking the rear steering out completely because the truck was so fast, anything on 4ws would make it traction roll. In all fairness I did have a 8.5t Tekin GenII motor and was on 2s or 3s.. LOL.. I just found this post so I'm a little behind. So forgive some of my review on stuff you've already worked on. If you have diff problems, the best fix I have found so far is to buy 2 of the GCM diff housings for the Yeti. GCM Racing WebStore-2015 - Axial Yeti EXO Buggy Diff Most of the failures I have seen were due to the plastic housings flexing and allowing the gears to pop. The trick with the aluminum housing differential, shim the gears TIGHT. I was running the HPI gear set. What I was doing, assemble the diff with just a very little bit of oil on the shims and back side of the diff gears. Shim it tight then, using an old axle stub in my high speed drill, run the gears in. Slowly at first than faster and faster. It wears the gears in to each other and smooths out the diff operation. Then I open it back up, clean it with some motor spray, and PACK it full of grease. I was using Lucas Red and Tacky but I can imagine Rock lube would work good as well. I mean I packed it as full as I could get it. With that 8.5t motor I blew up drive shafts and never broke a diff gear. The guy that had the truck is still beating on the axles and broke a drive shaft and destroyed a spur gear, still no diff damage. And do yourself a favor. Put diffs in the front and rear. It will keep you from destroying axle shafts. On the OD gears, I am on the fence. I liked having the rear motor in my Clod racers lag the front just a little bit (usually 10%-15%). On the Barbarian, I thought the same gear ratio, front and rear, worked better. But I was racing on high traction carpet. On dirt, different story. I ran the same steering servo and ended up giving up on them. I was pretty tough on them in my clod racers though. I ended up going with these. TowerHobbies.com | Ofna Heavy Duty Servo Saver w/CNC Top Blue I was running a S9157 @ 7.2v, so I may have had a little too much servo for my own good. LOL I also cut myself a new battery/electronics plate. Rather than using the two layer system that comes with the barbarian chassis, I used the lower plate, and cut a piece of 1/16" thick Garolite and used that on top of the battery tray. I had the speedo in the back and the receiver in the front. Since I was planning on racing, I tried to keep the weight as low and near the center as I could. Hope these help, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate. I learned most of what I know about MTs from Budhtrain and the guys that run with the Michigan Monsters of RC. Some great guys with FAST trucks. Keep up the good work, can't wait to see this done. |

| Re: Barbaric Quote: AND, would you share the drawings/details on these beauties. I run TXT wheels and Clod wheels on my MTs and these would be PERFECT. I have a CNC mill and am dangerous enough to figure out how to cut them. I broke the 3d-printed ones and the injection molded ones that Thunder Tech Racing sells. | |

@ Big Stu I have the HR alum diff cups installed with shimmed HPI diff gears and lucas wheel bearing grease. Standard HD gear front, ud gear rear. No 2 layer setup, only running the lower tray with the batt on top and elects underneath. The adapters are the same as the printed ones just made from alum for strength. Also I have a KK2 as well, thread here. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/non-c...27547-kk2.html Thanks for your interest. |

Sweet. I just got the message from KingKlod today, the next round of KK2s is in production and he should have them in a couple weeks. My plan was to build one truck as a racer, with the barbarian and AR60s, then the KK2 with the scale theme with Digger axles, model engine, ESS-One, etc.... But since the digger axles seem to be in a never ending back order I might do something crazy. I do have two complete sets of AL Fighters. HMMMMMM.. I can see between my scalers, the carpet oval cars, and monster trucks, I am going to be a busy guy all summer. Oh, and we're opening a carpet indoor race track at the local mall. Who needs sleep. LOL. Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see these finished. |

Everything is instock at the RC4WD intl. warehouse, takes an extra week to get but its worth it IMO. http://www.int.rc4wd.com/ edit: diggers are out now, swear they had them this morning when I ordered my lockouts. Last edited by ROWDY RACING; 03-25-2015 at 01:27 PM. |
