Anyone know of any hardened or atleast stronger than the cast Axial and HPI spider gears for running open diffs? I didn't have good luck with the HPI gears in the front of my Yeti so I don't have high hopes for them in a MT.

I tried open diff and took em out but I didn't race just bash. I ran HD stock ratios f/r and had no issues beating on the truck with 3s and a 4000kv motor. Or may stock up front and under out back.

| re: Barbaric Was thinking stock front and UD rear as well. I am building this to race and with the hairpin U turns at the end of the straight aways I'm thinking open will be the way to go.

I assume some spinny gears would be in order then. I toy'd around with my spider gears and put them in the rear only. Was funky to get used but I surprised with the results. |

| re: Barbaric Yeah I'm sure some testing and experamenting will be in order, if only parts would start rolling in so I can get started. The Dlux modded housings are the only parts that have showed up yet, they are well done very pleased.

| re: Barbaric The ring and pinions are hardened and described as such, the spider gears are not described as hardened and look like the same cast potmetal as the other options.

Really looking forward to this build! Let us know how long those CPE parts take to come in. I was thinking of the same sort of project after I recover financially from my wedding. ;) Thanks, Steve |

I'd never seen one of these until I saw this thread. Really curious to hear what you think of it when it's completed.

Erector sets were fun! I'm not sure, I just love the look and they seem to be heavily sought after, a few popped up so I took a chance on it... | |
