But getting there slowly! Rebuilt all x8 shocks. Sealed the motor. Adj. Links. Nitro Star 4.6 engine 2.9hp Still needs some electrical work, a new lexan body & tune-up when i get there. And just found this handy gadget from when i had my 1st savage years ago. ***This fail safe is dead now*** Had to rewire the 1700 mah 6v pack. Didnt trust how the previous owner had it done. Atleast i can charge it now. Caution!! R/C is highly addictive!! Last edited by SwampDawg; 07-21-2016 at 05:35 PM. |

| Re: Project Heathen Finally got to the stage where it is now a RTR rig exception of no lexan yet. Fired it up and ran 3/4 tank though the motor. Runs awesome but still needs a tune, runs a touch rich. Update for July 17 2016 Ran a few tanks through it today. Although the motor was running very strong, i just couldnt hold any tune for any time. No airleaks at all so im pointing my finger at the crappy 3-needle carburetor! Evil MSN crap. Caution!! Crawlingman9000 Nitro glitches are easy to resolve if you know what your looking at. My rig is in its 1st build runs. Just sorting out the details as i go. No biggie! Just need a 2-needle carb & two good servos. ******** These servos that came with this stuff are garbage running @ 50-60 oz-tq. They arent enough to turn anything but the throttle linkage lol Update July 18 2016 Problem solved! Sealed the MSN and turned it in flush +1/2 turn. Done! Caution!! R/C is highly addictive!! Tore down the front of my rig today. Had to swap out the weak HPI spring on the bellcrank. Had it maxxed out just to steer this beast thus stripping out my servo. Lol Swapped the spring out for an Ofna one i had from a Savage years ago. Much better!!! Caution!! R/C is highly addictive!! |

Its clean because i just got it & still working on this. Ill be grabbing a better servo for the th/br today. The Futaba thats in it now has a lowsy 60 oz-tq. Fine for the throttle but absolutely NO braking lol Update: New 645mg for the Th/Br and decided on upgrading to bearings on my steer posts. After the sealing of the MSN i ran a tank through & its holding a tune now *thumbsup* Yet still needs to be tuned-up... Fail safe Fail lol New one ordered!!! New decals await my new body (lexan undecided yet but...) Caution!! R/C is highly addictive!! Last edited by SwampDawg; 07-20-2016 at 08:45 PM. |

Cracked open transmissions that came with my savage in a box of parts to come up with a sweet gearbox! Although its not installed yet it has: Delrin 2speed gearset Big brake hub & carbon rotor All new bearings etc... Still some bits to install before i install into my rig. Purple plate temporary! | Re: Project Heathen Braking: Todays progress... Installed this new transmission into beast & made up a set of custom brembos lol And with this other transmission comes a massive steel brake hub! My last one was a stock tranny and plastic parts including this hub. Installed a plastic stock rollbar in place of what was the stock alloy rollbar. So much nicer on the hands carrying a 18+ lb pig! Savage looks good swamp. Your definitely right about having that rollbar, carrying a savage xl sucks with out it. Have you thought about getting rid of the electronics box and putting the tank up front? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

All back together using standard gears. Caution!! R/C is highly addictive!! Last edited by SwampDawg; 07-25-2016 at 12:37 PM. |

| Re: Project Heathen Gearbox'd Tore the gearbox that i just replaced out again... Decided to install these bits into the split gearcase to make it easier to work on in the future. Also found an alloy spacer from my Axial bin that was a touch longer. I needed something like this for my custom brakes. Caution!! R/C is highly addictive!! | Re: Project Heathen Savage brakes take #2: Lol Brake fading with previous setup...fail! Heres the next attempt for which feels very good manually. Gone to using x2 carbonfiber rotors & x3 steel calipers. Also had to go back to using the stock piston. Caution!! R/C is highly addictive!! Last edited by SwampDawg; 07-28-2016 at 12:44 PM. |

| Re: Project Heathen Midtank & Electrics relocation program: And so it begins.... Custom work underway! Steel plate. Cut holes for servos. Crossmember installed between TVP chassis. Once this is complete ill move onto relocating my Th/Br servo next to the motor on the chassis. Midtank mod: Before i can go ahead any further into the midtank mod, i need to find this fuel cell.
