Started painting the body. Matching the theme of the legends version of the gd. Overlapping the flames on the hood.

Started making the sponsor decal panel.

I ordered some max D shocks off of eBay. The hpi savage xl shocks were just way too long.

Putting the dlux sway bars on the truck.

I'm struggling with the decals on the door. My original print of the vinyl is too light and these don't look very good either. I think I'm going to just order some cut vinyl online.

Looks good. If you plan on keeping the Axial shocks, the aluminum parts from Axial are very nice. They're offered in blue and black. Definitely a worthy upgrade IMO.

I need to get the sponsor panels on mine. I didn't realize they came with the truck so I bought a sheet of lexan to cut my own. I bought the Traxxas sponsor sticker kit as well and they're just too big so I'm searching for different stickers.

I could print you a sticker sheet pretty easily for a sponsor panel. I can print on waterproof polyethylene sticker sheets (freezer grade food labels). Just PM me the list of logos you want with rough dimensions.

What's that orange stuff that you used to make the masks?

It's actually a premade mask. Xxx makes them. I've picked them up from hobby stores and I think either amain or rpp hobby carry them.

Bummer. I'd love a sheet of that uncut.

*edit*

Is this what I'm looking for?

I'm sure that would do what you want. Never used it myself but looks exactly like you described you need.

Can you tell me more about the transmission you used? More specifically the bottom gear and the long outputs.

I just overhauled an SCX and another rig, and I'm thinking about building an Axial based rig. What wheelbase do i need to shoot for in able to be "legal" for any racing?

Are there any build threads for the scx frame ax10 shafty SAMT's?

Thanks

The transmission is a cheap Al case from china. Hot racing steel gear set. The extended outputs are from crawler innovations. I don't think he makes them any more, but Holmes hobbies and supershafty make something similar. Top shaft is stock with stock slipper.

I couldn't tell you on the wb for racing. The only racing I know of locally to me is not super close. I'm sure the stock smt10 wb is legal.
Check triggerking out. They're a club in Missouri that does organized racing.

There are probably builds with scx10 chassis but you'll have to search for those in this subforum I'm not sure what's out there.

I've been driving this truck quite a bit when possible.

First impressions are it's friggen awesome.

Love the 4600kv on 3s. Geared right I don't have any brown out issues.

The jconcepts tires are bad ass. This thing can pop a wheelie just by pulling the throttle while rolling along.

As with anything it's taken it's bumps. Can't believe how well the plastic knuckles and steering linkage is holding up. With the servo saver and open front diff, it really helps save parts.

At our TTC I had the truck out for some bashing. At 25mph I tagged a buddies heavy scaler.

Bent his lower links completely. Only mangled one of my links. New ones are here. Need to straighten out the al plate

While jumping and showing off she became like a true monster with the bed flopping around. And came home as a truggy.

The collision dislodged the batt up into the drivers seat lol.

Got some new proline sheet metal. Going to change her up a little ;)

In the mean time while I make a new body I threw on my f650 lid from an old scale build.

I took the truck to bash at a local track. It surprisingly did really well. However I took a header off one of the big jumps at full speed and it took out both front lower links.

Added a little caster lol.

Put some ssd goodness on the front. And finally doubled up the rear braces. We'll see how the rod ends hold up.

Had her ready for another bash/practice session but the track was rained out.

Don't quote photos. It's poor forum etiquette. The tires are JConcepts Renegades.

dna4engr: Since you like the old school Grave Diggers you might be interested in the '51 Ford Panel Truck body that JConcepts is releasing in June.

Forgot to mention that the truck is now running Dlux mod housings front and back both with Beef Tubes for strength. Did that mod before the bash session at the track.

Default DNA's SMT10 from the ground up

I was out having some fun with the truck at the last comp and blew out the rod end of the upper plastic links.

I little trick I figured out to keep using the plastic links. I like keeping them up top as they give some flex to keep other things from breaking.

First you cut them off right past the gusset plate on the link.

Then drill a 1/8" hole in The end.
I put a 8/32 1" long grub screw. And then install a traxxas revo rod end.

Works about perfect and the length is spot on to the cut.
