Default Jato's SMT10

I'm shocked this truck hasn't gotten its own section yet.

I backordered mine from Tower and I'm anxiously awaiting it. It looks embarrassingly slow in stock form so I'm going to go brushless almost instantly. I have this 120A RC Gear Shop ESC and 4550kV motor. I also have a 3900kV motor. I'm not sure which I'm going to use. I'll mostly be running 2S. I'm pretty sure this is rebranded HobbyWing stuff. Even the programming card looks like HobbyWing.

The countdown continues...

Exclamation Re: Jato's SMT10

Yes this truck needs its own section for surely.

I can't wait to order mine. Saving up for it. Got to get a few things right off the bat. Pro-Line Brawler Wheels, and RC4wd Race tires

I started a thread in suggestions, and ideas, awhile back. Go chime in.

Which RC4WD tires did you get?

OK I'll check out your thread.

No I don't have them yet, I don't even have a SMT10 yet. But I'm researching and planning what to get.

RC4wd makes The Rumble Monster Truck Racing Tire. it's very light weight. Part # Z-T0015. And I'll get the Proline agressive offset Brawler wheels. Unless the new Jconncepts wheels are lighter.

Yesterday Tower's site said the SMT10 would be available mid September. Now it says early October.

That's the "In Stock" date, it takes into account backorders waiting to be filled. Trust me, I've ordered enough to know, lol. You should get yours sooner.

Congrats on the purchase!

Yes, you would know. Thanks for giving me some hope that I'll get it this month.

EDIT: Tower charged my card so I would think it's going to ship today. This, the day after the eCash offer expires. How convenient for them...

I got my Axial SMT10 Grave Digger today. This thing is even cooler in person.

I'm pissed at Axial though. After less than 1 battery pack it's 2 wheel drive. I think the output in the transmission broke. I'll have to pull it apart. The body post is also missing a set screw. This is just absolutely ridiculous and inexcusable.

I swore off Axial vehicles because they are overpriced and need tons of upgrades to make them usable. I gave them another chance and I see things haven't changed at all.

Axial overprices their vehicles and then they need more upgrades than any other brand. Traxxas gets flack for this, but really Axial is much worse.

Yes! Sad, isn't it? Like I said, this was all stock and I didn't even run a full battery pack through it before it broke.

That does suck... contact axial they'll replace it.

Although you'll be replacing all internal gears anyways when you go to the big brushless power. I really like the smt10 monster truck I'm waiting for one to show up on Craigslist broken..

Basically everything on my SMT10 required to make the wheels spin is either failing or has already failed. I'm running a Velineon brushless system on 3S though.

I'm pretty bummed. Axial reached out to me on FB regarding one of my videos and I talked with the rep a while. I ended up mentioning how my front steering broke and parts aren't available yet. They said they'd send me the metal kit for the yeti free of charge. That was 3 weeks ago now :(

Which steering kit? The reason they were going to send me the metal yeti steering kit was because the new SMT10 one wasn't available yet.

Rather than waiting for axial metal steering components, I just got components for the Wraith. Knuckle, carrier, and links.

I was under the impression that the front steering on SMT10 was the same as a couple Axial R/Cs, so...... It is available.

I found this PDF that states the batter tray dimensions are: (LxWxH): 140x47x35 mm
http://www.wittmax.com/catalog/produktinfo/480019.pdf

Can anybody confirm this? I'm trying to decide if a fullsize, 4000-6000mAh, 3S LiPo will fit without any issues.

I can't confirm the dimensions, but I run a 5000mah 3S Traxxas Lipo in mine and it barely fits. I mean barely. The hinged door on the battery compartment has to bend around the end of the battery because of its length, and it can be tricky getting the e-clip in to hold it shut. It seems fine width wise, and height is a non-issue. I've run 4 solid packs through it with no issues though, and I like my batteries to have next to no wiggle room.

According to the Traxxas site, the dimensions of that battery are:
Length: 135mm
Width: 44mm
Height: 28.5mm

So based on that, I'd say the dimensions you provided for the battery tray are accurate. Hope that helps.
