Default Waterproof electronics recommendations

Been doing some research but figured I'd open the floor for some people who have experience.

Starting to build a mud truck of sorts. Just something I can run in the yard when it is wet or muddy. Not heavy bashing or mud pit runs.

It will be based off ar60 axles with 2.2 mud basher tires. Will be making a toyzuki style tranny/transfer case. My plan is to keep most of the electronics up high to reduce the amount of time they spend in the mud/water. Will have a deck that extends out to the body to provide a limited seal against splashes.

I'm not looking to break the bank. Figure around $100 for motor/esc and $75 for a servo. I do want brushless for the motor/esc. If there is a sensored brushless that fits that would be an option. I'm also not loyal to any specific brands. I've ran castle, novak, tekin, axial, etc. with good/bad stories in most cases.

All input is welcome.

The Castle Sidewinder and 3800kv motor would likely be a good choice.

That is an option although I'm worried about heat running on 3s. I have one in a 1.9 scale truck and it gets pretty hot on that.

My exact thought. To run 3s a 2400kv motor is better, but more$$$$

HobbyWing or Kinexsis 4000kV combo. A 3000kV combo is also available.

Looks reasonable. Do you have personally experience with it? Does it have much cogging on the low end? I don't expect butter smooth with sensorless but some systems are better than others.

No personal experience with that. But the ESC looks like a HobbyWing ESC that I have in mine. I have no complaints. Plus, it's a Horizon product so it will most likely be good. If not they have the best customer service in the industry.

I've been reading up on hobbywing. Which combo of there stuff would you recommend?

For a servo I think the xpert 7000 series looks promising. Not looking to start a which is better discussion but does anyone have experience with it?

I'm pretty sure the Kinexsis system is Hobbywing. Hobbywing is the OEM for a bunch of other companies that sell electronics.

Get an ESC with at least 80A and a 4-pole motor between 3500 kV and 4000kV and you should be fine.

Just realized the tranny I plan on running uses a mod1 spur gear, so the motor pinions are all 5mm shafts. That limits the options for me.

I saw this in my search: 3674 2250KV 4P Sensorless Brushless Motor + 120A Brushless Splash-Proof Electronic Speed Controller with 5.7V/8A Switch Mode BEC for 1/8 RC Car Truck | Alex NLD

Specs all seem decent except for the kv. Is that going to be too low in comparison to my target 3500kv rating?

Actually, I'm thinking this might be a good one. More than I was looking to spend but should be solid.

I'm selling my new SC8 hobbywing combo with 3400kV motor and programmer. It's got a 3mm shaft but has an adapter for 5mm mod 1 pinions.
Cheaper than what you linked to.

I don't think that's waterproof.

I'll have to go read up on it. I thought it said waterproof or splash proof but I've been wrong before.
