Default Allanon1965 builds a Monster Truck!

I picked these up from the local hobby shop, the chassis is made by custom crawl rc, and I am not certain what the tires are other than rc4wd b&h monster truck tires. I am not sure what the rims are...but they are 2.6 diameter and the tires are 4.5 inches wide by 6.5 inches tall, massive!

j-concepts ford truck body and 120mm HR shocks.. scx10 skid.

Looking at putting in a HH puller pro XL 3500kv waterproof motor with HH trailmaster BLE waterproof ESC

The rims look like Pro-Line Brawler.

well, I have some more parts on the way, I had ordered a differential gear set for an ar60 on ebay and didnt realize it was from an smt10 so it has the gear set inside instead of the locker. I had the front and rear ar60 axles so I just ordered another gear set to put in the front. I also ordered the smt10 links and steering linkage, and rear sway bar

I have a castle sensored 1410 3800kv 5mm shaft motor, castle sct water proof esc,(yes I know its not sensored), power HD B3 digital 416 OZ servo, SMT10 drive shafts, and another Hot Racing all metal scx10 trans... this should get me going within the next 2 weeks with this monster truck. Going to start with a 4.75 ratio and see how that goes...

Ok, I am almost there, just waiting on the drive shafts and rx...soon as those are here its a runner! I got the front gear set changed out to the open diff gears, made two battery plates so I can run 2 2200mah 3s lipos in parallel.

I adjusted the body height, had to rotate the motor to the left to get away from the right upper link forward mount screw, made a styrene plate for mounting the ESC and rx to. I also managed to get the rear sway bar mounted using bits and pieces I had laying around, I think it turned out well for what I had to work with lol! I also had to trim the rear of the bed a bit so it wouldn't rub the tires

Thanks! The body mounts will eventually change to something else but this is what I had to work with.

after running today out at the property, the 3800 is a pretty good match for the gearing

ran very well out at the property, the body mounts I used are moving around a lot so that needs to be addressed soon.

Okay, I changed the body out for a yeti pro line body, looks perfect! I will be buying a new body so the back wont have the cut out that is there now. I also had trouble after a few runs with the rears not doing much work. I found out that I twisted the new rear shaft! I guess I better get a set of MIP yeti drive shafts...

I now dub thee Monster Beetle!

Getting things ready for the track. I broke another rear drive shaft yesterday, a MIP Yeti rear drive shaft has been ordered so I wont be plagued by this issue again...

I went to the track today, the Monster Beetle did very well on the jumps and all the turns, the stock rear gears are going to be worn out very quickly, it started clicking in reverse after about 10 laps around the track. I came home and tore down the rear diff, polished off the sharp edges on the ring gear and re-lubed and re-installed everything. No more clicking in reverse, but this is just temporary as I know it will do it again.

I am ordering the HD under drive gears for the front and rear so I get the most engagement of the teeth I can. The under drive gears wont slow down the 3800 much at all..this thing is a beast on 3s with the 3800kv castle motor lol!

My MIP Yeti rear drive shaft finally came in and it fits perfectly. I noticed the front Axial WBHD drive shaft also now is beginning to twist so I need another MIP yeti shaft! I double checked the ring and pinion gears and they are wearing out very quickly! My next order will need to include a pair of 43/13 under drive HD gear sets as well as the yeti drive shaft lol...
