Default Is anyone running an external BEC for their servo on their SMT10?

Hi All,

just wondering if anyone is running an external BEC for their servos on their SMT10. I'm looking to run this servo: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free...9-3eb72be666be

I'm running j-concepts firestorms so they're some big wheels.

I can't seem to find if they're really necessary as I've been finding articles that go both ways but mostly reference crawlers, no big monster trucks.

any advice is appreciated.

I run a bec on my axial based monster truck with 2.6 brawlers. Without one it didn't have enough power to really turn the wheels

Yes, absolutely you want to run one. When I built mine I started without one and always thought the steering was horrible. I've since put a Castle BEC and a Savox 1230sg servo and it's a night and day difference.

I don't run BECs on mine with Firestorms. I have a good ESC with a good internal BEC so there's no reason to use an external BEC.

I'd go for a better servo if you can swing it.

I use the hobbyking 5amp 6v bec with their 30kg 6v servo, its rad as it displays your battery voltage, and has an on off switch. was like 50AUD for both

let me know if you want the links

yeah sure! I'd love to check those out! I've been waiting forever for a new servo to show up. I'll see how it does without one but it looks like the consensus is to go with a BEC.
