I'm planning to run a Hobbywing 3660SL 4000kv on 3s with the stock 16t pinion. I' like to have the option to run 2s, but I'd have to get a different ESC for that, Max 8 is 3s minimum.

| SMT10 Build Post #1 Literally from the Ground Up Nice, I ordered the same motor last monday (if you’re talking about the EZRUN 3660 G2) and will run it with a Hobbywing Max10 SCT. That will give me thermal protection of the motor Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk Last edited by Chris-NL; 08-02-2018 at 08:16 AM. |

EDIT: I would run that 4000kv on the 11t pinion I think, not 16t, but I'm not sure.

Whoa, very nice motor... I run one in my Slash 4x4 and it’s crazy fun indeed . Not sure I would dare to run such crazy power in a truck with an SCX10 tranny and AR60 diffs running on Jconcepts Firestorm tires . Curious which route you will take Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk

So, as you can see I've been all over the shop with motor decisions. Well, I'm feeling strongly about using the Max 8 ESC with a Hobbywing 3660SL 4000kv now. I'll try 3s and 16t, but I expect I'll do better for long runs with maybe a 13t or 14t pinion.

Hi guys, Slowly but surely, this build, which from here on will be called the SMT10 Blackfoot, is moving along. Here's what I have so far in the order I got the parts, just for fun: 1. JConcepts Renegades tires (blue compound), Tribute wheels (white) 2. HR steel trans gears - I've decided to run a center diff instead of the trans, so now I have spare steel gears 3. MCI 1/10 Blackfoot decals - the decals from MCI sparked a whole new idea for me. Check out my Facebook group "Newstalgia RC' 4. Max D chassis - the previous owner modded the front to fit a body, but I don't think it will matter 5. Steel-geared transmission - again, will not use for this build, good backup tranny 6. Castle 1410 3800kv - this will be paired with a Hobbywing Max 8 and run on 3s That's all I have to this point. I am probably going to get Junfac 95-130mm driveshafts because everything I read says they're great for the money, although I might go for 30 bucks more and get the MIP X duty shafts. For now, I am thinking I'll run the 1984 JCon Ford pickup MT body, but that's not set either. The rest is still up in the air. I'd love to hear thoughts on which way you think I should go with other key components, like shocks and a servo etc...I plan on having a lot of fun with this winter slooow build. Thanks for checking in, MP Last edited by Mongol Pete; 09-11-2018 at 07:14 AM. |

Have you made any more progress, and do you have any pictures of the build?

Hi YK, Not much progress to report unfortunately. I "needed" a rally RC car so I picked up a Traxxas Fiesta as a slider, and have been spending time and money building that up. It's great fun, but it seriously delayed my SMT10 Blackfoot build. At this point, I need axles, links, shocks and a hardware set. The next thing I will probs do is paint the body cause I'm not ready to drop another 200-300 on the rest of the parts I need right now. If you're on Facebook, search "Newstalgia RC" That'll be the best place to follow this build, and all the tribute RCs I've done. Thanks for stopping by, MP |

Awesome, thanks for the update! I'll look for the build on FB. Also, Ulaanbaatar is one of my top travel destinations, so jealous! Hope all your builds turn out great!

I got back on track with this build in a big way today. I ordered built-up AR60 axles, CPE links and PL Powerstroke shocks. Ulaanbaatar is okay, but getting outside of the city is what you reall want. There are wide open, untouched places here. My spring trip will be to some sand dunes for my 1st ever sand bashing! Defo look up my group on Facebook and send a join request (and answer the questions please). Just search "Newstalgia RC" See you there, MP |

Happy Thanksgiving from Ulaanbaatar, RCC fans, Just an update: The SMT10 Blackfoot build has begun. I have been messing about trying to relocate the rear sway bar to fit with the shocks on the axles, but I've decided to just use lower arm type links and run the stock sway bars in the stock position, along with the sweet 5" PL XT shocks I got. Now I will have CPE upper links and ZRP lower arms. Along with that. I'll just run front and rear Axial stock sway bars. I hope to have her ready for pics and the maiden run sometime around Chirstmas. Thanks for stopping by, MP |
