| Brushed SMT10?
Did he say brushed? This will likely be a short and unpopular thread, but is anyone running a BRUSHED esc/motor combo? I am curious to know if 2s or maybe even 3s with a decent ESC, like a HW1060, and a 12t-17t brushed motor would be fast and jump well. It'd sure be nicer to driveline parts. Ran a XL-5 and 12T combo on 2s for a while, was decent. I’m now running a velineon setup on 3S and it’s nearly too much, spent much time on its roof.

I ran a rtr dynamite esc from an Ascender and. 20t rc4wd motor with a 13t pinion. It was faster than stock, but no means fast. Now it’s a SW4 4600kv Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks guys! Exactly the kind of info I'm after. I think I'll try an XL-5/12t before I go brushless. The idea is to be able to drive it and not tip over all the time, and to be able to run stock drive train parts for a while. I will upgrade parts as they break, so I expect to need metal trans gears, HD diff gears, and MIP drive shafts.

| Re: Brushed SMT10? I have 2 1080s, didn't realize they could be used for non-crawlers. I could swap the stock ESC for one of my trail trucks and use the 1080 in the smt10 possibly. I would just need to buy a fast brushed motor, maybe a 12t Titan or a HH 21t Trailmaster Sport 21t. Good call. Thanks Nino.

The triggerking guys run XL-5 and reedy 17t motors in there sport mod class. They look like they have fun, controllable speed and jump plenty well. I'm going to be building one soon with those specs. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk |

I've decided I'm going to upgrade an RTR in stages. Before I even turn it on, I'll put steel gears in the trans. After that, I'll try a HW1080/15t brushed set up for a while. When I'm ready to let er rip, I'm going to install a HW Max 8 esc (cause I have one) and either a 3200kv or 4000kv motor. After that, I'll upgrade as parts break. Thanks for stopping by, MP |
