Default SMT10 Build Help

Just got my SMT10 Grave Digger Truck! Yay.. So I'm already looking to do some upgrades to get ready for MORE POWER. I ran it a few times and its slow and has no power.

Need a suggested part list to get me going. (Also what Transmission grease do you guys use? and Thread lock?)
Also what motor/ESC do you guys run in your SMT10 Trucks?

Thanks,

I run a full steel gear transmission, when you go brushless you will break the stock gears...

I also run a castle sw4 esc, and a HobbyKing turnigy 4pole 3900kv motor, on 3s.

Goes nuts.

Also look into metal drive shafts...

Hell YEAH!! Thats the plan!

I'm just a little lost in the parts. Sounds like the SMT10 has a mix of pars with SCX10, WRAITH and the YETI.

So I did some digging and I found that pro racer use the
(Genius Turbo 120R ESC/ GM RACE SC55 5.5T Sensored Brushless Motor Combo) motor to make there trucks scream! and the price is about 175$ for the combo. What ya'll that of that setup?

The SMT10 can't handle more power in stock form. Along with the motor and ESC be prepared to buy gears for the transmission and axles. I also destroyed a driveshaft, but most people seem to be fine with the stock ones.

If you had larger Clod sized tires (2.6" offered by Tamiya, Proline, and JConcepts) then you will also need to beef up more stuff.

I have an 80A ESC and 3900kv motor in mine. On 2S it's fast enough to seem like scale monster truck speed and on 3S you have to have a light trigger finger to avoid wheelies and destroying parts.

If you want an inexpensive combo check out the 4000kv combo from Kinexsis. It's backed by Horizon's awesome customer service so you can't go wrong IMO.

I was tempted to put the longer 2400kv castle in my Barbarian, which is the same running gear, gear up a little and run 3S. Instead put the 3800kv, geared well down and run 3S for the extra run time. I'd certainly look at the Hot Racing entire AX10 transmission in the future and clamping lockouts/chubs with some beef tubes if running 2.6s.
