| a lot of money and custom build
Hello, i have a lot of free money and i could start a project which is a few years old just in my head hah.... So.... what do you think about 4 wheels independent drive truck for crawling? I had a LEGO when i was a kid and i build a monster truck with 4 attached motors directly to the wheels. Should it work with 1:8 scales? Just imagine - 4 motors attached directly with some reductors to the 4 wheels. Just don`t know will it be OK with the steering cause the steering will be like the rest trucks. Just wanted to know what do you think and should i try it? |

| Re: a lot of money and custom build If you like to tinker and have the tools. A 3D printer would be really helpful in prototyping something like this. Though I would say a project like this would likely be pretty time consuming and difficult proposition, I could imagine it taking years to fine tune. Have a look at this creation, not a monster truck but the same concept of individual motors. You can also see how challenging this kind of project is. Crazy axles idea design Most of its pictures aren't displaying right now but the last page has some video. I was imagining something like this the other day with a setting for skid steering so you could just pivot in place. Last edited by HumboldtEF; 01-08-2019 at 01:38 PM. |

OP, What you're describing sounds a lot like a Traxxas Summit, except that doesn't have motors at the wheels. Maybe it could be a starting point?

Well, i have a very good 3d printer, and a good solid-works friend, who`s gonna draw with motion my project. On the other hand - i am good with the drawnings on graph paper. The whole thing is in my head, just wanted to know if there will be any problem with the steering - i mean, you know, front wheels will spin with the same amount of power. |

You should take a look at this. BC-Brian's Real life Unlimited MOW with a dash of something crazy I know the guy who built it. Cool idea. |

Since it will be like crawler, i think it`s better to put brushed motors. What do you think? I will need sometimes low speed so maybe a brushed 21t motor or bigger T, just dont want to overheat it.

To figure that out you'll need to figure out your transmissions first.

| Re: a lot of money and custom build Well, i think i will need brushed motor 540 size with high rpm (maybe 21000) and gear reducer 3:1. I am not sure how much fast it`s gonna be, but... i am gonna try. Actually thats the question ... what woulb be the speed, but it`s gonna be a summit like truck, so no need to be extremely fast
