Default Indybama's monster build

Hey yall, looks like everybody is goin for a monster truck build lol. So heres mine...

Im goina use an scx10 chassis with an ax10 chassis as the lift for the skid. As of now im goina use the stock skid and chassis cross braces. Im lookin to give the scx10 rails some fresh paint, but wat color? Im goin with a blue n silver scheme with a touch of black. So should i keep the rails black or paint them either blue or silver?

Im usin the OG scx10 trans with metal gears. Lookin to get a silver case to kinda stand out behind the blue ax10 chassis plates.

Im not sure wat the links are (got them in a wroncho project here in classifieds). But theyre pretty beefy lol. Im goina all stainless hardware just to give it some color.

I got some unbranded aluminum axle housing to keep weight down low. Gotta get knuckles, chubs, n straight adapters yet. I have a ser of blue HR diff covers for contrast. Also have to get some new hexes as well.

The shocks are also unbranded 110mm, aluminum body with blue springs. Ive got 70wt in them at the moment. We'll see how that works out once shes up n goin.

For electronics im goin with the traxxas mxl-6s esc, a powerhd wp 20kg servo (may get the 25kg later). As far as a motor, in waitin to hear back from Jon. Lookin to get a HH BL. Wanna try runnin 4s lol

I havent quite decided on a body yet. I like the 79 supercab from jconcepts, but i also found a raptor body with a 325mm WB. Any suggestions on a body?

For shoes im thinkin the PL wheels with the planetary hub in the center n a set of their tires. They have an unglued set of wheels and tires for bout $132.

Any suggestions or advice is welcome. Thanks for yall input and for checkin out my build. Now on to some pics...

Got the axles swapped out. Think i kinda like the black knucks n hubs n link mounts. May just stay stick with them unless they show any weakness

The axles look great! Are they steel or aluminum? Stock gears?

I was piddlin a lil bit ago.. Got the links mounted to the axles n the skid to the ax10 chassis plates. But i couldnt leave it alone lol, so i got the links attached to the skid n chassis plates. I think the stainless hardware looks good. Still tryin to decide wat color to go with the scx10 frame rails. I think blue would be a bit much since the chassis plates are blue. So its a toss up between black or silver. Opinions?

I think the black would balance out the colors. Looking forward to seeing more progress.

Thanks mud bogger! Ive been tossin the colors back n forth lol. Lookin to get the silver trans case to give some color between the blue chassis plates n black skid. May just stick with black. Thanks for checkin out this build

Looks great so far! I’d also go with black for the frame rails.

I got a couple powerhd 20kg wp servos in today. One for this build n one for another project. If this 20kg wont stand up to the tires wen i get her goin, ill get the 25kg one.

Workin on gettin a plate made for the esc to mount to. Im using a plastic case from a movie security case yhey have at walmart. I bought a couple movies n went thru the self serve checkout. So wen i got to the house i had to break into it to get the movies lol. Theyre fairly easy to get into n unlock with a small screwdriver...

Thank u! Tryin to keep everything as low as possible on the upper part. Thats y i went with the aluminum axles to help keep it on the ground. Goina get another batt tray so theres a batt in the front n rear to even out the balance. The esc will sit down on that center cross member literally right above the trans. Which will help with the cog. Gotta decide where to put the rx yet. Still lookin to get the silver aluminum trans case. Still have to get wheels, tires, wheel hexes, new wheel nuts, and body too

I got a lil tinker time in last night. Got a lil bit done. My patience is very short lol, so buyin parts here n there helps to not get in a hurry to finish this one. N its killin me! I cant wait to see it finished n drive it lol. But im doin my best to take my time...

Its not bein built for crawlin, its more of a basher. Thats y im lookin to go 4s.

Im runnin the traxxas mxl-6s esc.

Ive got another batt tray comin and the silver aluminum trans case too.

Also got the powerHD 20kg servo mounted. Ive got a vanquish servo mount comin for it in silver, couldnt find a blue one lol.

As far as a motor goes, lot of people have recommended the HH revolver. Which would fit in the space i have available for squeezin a motor into.

For the tx/rx i just went with a 2ch traxxas tqi. No need for a highend radio, im not goina put any accesories on it except MAYBE lights eventually.

I used an axial rx box, it fits between the rails nicely. It hangs low enuf to be under the batt tray n high enuf its out of suspension n driveshaft travel. I made the bracket out of a piece of aluminum i had layin around. I ran the antenna along the inside of the framerail n ziptied it in place.

The 79 ford supercab body should b here mon. I need to get paint for the body n come up with a paint scheme. Im stickin with the blue n silver colors n maybe some black to break it up a a touch. I wanted to go BIGFOOT but to get close to my WB (13.25") i had to get the supercab 79 ford (12.3"). Dont recall ever seein a supercab bigfoot lol. Im also lookin to get the trx4 bronco grille, body trim n tailgate trim IF the measurement come out the same. And the traxxas stampede bigfoot roll bar n bumpers if theyll fit as well.

Heres pics of progress so far...
