Default bent link installation help

I have had my scorpion rtr for a few weeks and I am now starting to upgrade it. I got the bent links for both front and rear to replace the stock plastic ones. The kit instructions are not clear on how to mount them. I have them in the stock location and they lean out a little. Is this normal? Or is there a better way to mount them?

I think i read if you use the bent links on both front and rear will make the wheelbase over 13 inch's. but im not 100% sure.

Thanks for the answers, after getting some sleep I realized that I had to turn over the rod ends that connect to the axle . Once I installed them on both ends they did make the wheelbase longer, but I moved the mounting for the links farther in on the chassis and I am back to just under 12.5"
