Default West Michigan Crawling Spots

So we do not have the best crawling spots around, but I thought I would post some pics of some possibilities.

Please post pics of your spots. Please tell the Street and City it's in so the rest can find it.

I'm in western lower pennisula, Holland Mich.

First up is Grand Haven. Grand Haven state park.
Busy place, but great to go in the morning.
Boardwalk runs from downtown out to the lighthouse at the river mouth, at the state park.
Four shots. Some right at the beach, some further up. Not great, but worth showing.

Red face Lowell

Here is what I found it Lowell. It is a real nice park, with a play area for my kids. It is kind of flat, but still fun. I get a lot of strange looks and gasps of surprise as I crawl all over this place.

The park can be found on Bowes Rd, Lowell, MI

Please forgive the photo quality. Cell phones can only do so much.

and of course one showing my rig...

Default Cement Recycler, Chicago Dr. between Holland & Zeeland

Small Cement Recycling place on Chicago Dr.(business 196) between Holland and Zeeland. Located between lights at 104th and 96th aves.

What the sign looks like:

Right next to this place (easier sign to find):

What the bldg looks like:

Large pile of broken concrete behind the small bldg. Had to watch for rust rebar and mesh.

Lower end of the pile was more fun. Moved a few small pcs to fill in larger gaps (2.2 sized line) and crawled for 3hours. From Left to Right, a_g_j_86's (Alex) TLT4 4link, my BMVII, and Shadowr1's (Jared) AX10.

Further back in the yard, was a storage area that they sprayed a cement slurry on the walls to prevent them from eroding. Made for grippy climbing:

PM me if you want better directions.

Default Brewers Cement Recyling, accross from Elhart Jeep/Dodge/Nissan

Just another spot. Cement Recycler. On Chicago Dr.(Business 196) 2miles west from spot shown above.
Smaller place. Piles always change.

Default Back at the cement recyclers again!!

August 3, 2008
Zeeland, Mich
Chicago Dr. Cement Recycler

Seven of us ran for about 2hrs. HOT! Very challenging for 2.2s. I think everyone broke something at least once. But a bit of fun the challenge was.

Default Grand Rapids spot, Lowes, 28th & Broadmore

Seven of us had a fun time today. New spot in Grand rapids.
Lowes on SW corner of 28th and Broadmore (M37).
Ditch is on the garden center side of the store, west end.

Various sized rocks surrounding a drainage area that were cemented in place.
Small enough area you might miss it, but the horseshoe shape gave us 15min runs through our markers.

Default Grand Rapids spot, Fish Ladder Park, near downtown

Couple others have crawled here and liked it.
Good spot. Bigger gaps can swallow 2.2 tires.
Watch for fish line tangles.

In Muskegon, north of the beach, south of USS Silversides, and right next to the river. There is a place just like the one in Grand Haven. There is a nice park there also, with a playground, and indoor bathrooms that are actually clean. Also electricity. We crawl there 1-2 times a month.

I was there last night. They had "Yoga at the Beach" going on. I thought I saw some premo crawling area. It looks like it would be a great setup for a very challenging run. Next time I go to my old house I will have to bring my truck with me.

Bronco... is Ryan (I think thats his name... owner of HOH) crawling yet? That guy is into everything that has a radio and wheels.

His name is Eric, but no, he does not have the store any more. I heard that some one else will have it though. Eric got rid of the store this past spring. Here is a link to a video I made at the place I was talking about. Oh, Eric is not into crawling. He said it's too slow.

Default bummer

That is a shame about Eric. He was great to deal with. He loves RC so much. I used to live 2 blocks from his shop. Cool video!

It is such a pain not having an lhs this summer. Eric does seem happier without the headache of the store.

Default Muskegon Channel Park Crawling

What great weather for crawling.
Sunny, 73, breeze, the lake and boats near by.

BIG rocks for our 2.2's.
Sorry Bill, I didn't pull out the camera until after you left.
Pulled out the little home-made bridge to get us across some of these monsters.
