And get some pictures before the paint and electronics in place.

What is the body? Who makes it?

spoo76 05-09-2011 03:27 PM

Monogram CJ7 one is red with a hardtop the other is green with no top.
however they are getting pretty expensive and rare. I see them for $75-99 now but sometimes you see them for $60.
I will say at that price they may not be worth it unless you have decent model building skills. the parts don't fit together as well as you would expect and will take some putty and sanding to look ok, lots of body gaps. i have one red like this and a green without a hard top

Thanks. I looked all over and found a few I liked. I thought about going with the 24th like the one Sarlac used with his pinch (http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d9...o/13f7a33f.jpg) but I just stumbled across this exact model for $20 so I will probably end up using the same kit. It is the perfect scale for the rock crushers. I was wondering what you made your leaf springs out of. Getting all the electronics under the hood is impressive. Do you have any trouble with the receiver being right on top of the motor? I think I will probably not go quite that far on the first one. It looks like you made your own shocks too. Wow. I was thinking about going with the blue internal spring shocks.

Are you going to put up a video when you are done?

-Bugs- 05-15-2011 01:44 PM

The electronics works fine, no problems and a good range.
The damper shown by you unfortunately do not really fit for what I did before.

EXCALIBER 4X4 07-27-2011 08:29 PM

Would you ever consider selling the truck once your done with it? or any idea what it would cost to build a clone?

Thanks!

Building a true clone wont be easy considering the majority of it is scratch built. the only shelf parts are the wheels, axles which are modified, and the body which when you find them usually sell for $99 but if you are lucky you can find them for $60-$70 on occasion

that being said as much as i would love to own this exact jeep i dont think i could afford it considering all the hand made parts haha
