| "Army FJ" - Update 6/20
This is my first real "build", so be easy on me Road Rippers FJ Cruiser - Styrene Chassis - Parted out McRC. Articulation is not great, but I like it because its a little more "scale" to what a real 1:1 would look like. Still to come: Paint, rc4wd rock crushers, styrene bumpers (already made front, but don't like it), maybe some wheel wideners, stiffer rear springs (already have mini t springs). Let me know what you think! Last edited by siuvinson; 06-20-2011 at 10:47 AM. |

| haha...I figured that was coming (JK) I'll try to set mine apart with the paint job and other little details! To my defense, I saw your build about 2 days after I started this...nobody like a copycat, so I'll do my best. |

| Styrene is pretty easy to work with, the current front bumper took about 30 mins to put together. I don't likt it much though so I'm going to make a new one. I'm not entirely sure what else I'll do...I'll just figure it out as I go.

Looks good. Where are you going to put the winch? Maybe a id retractor on the rear cross brace? Do you have room inside the body?

I just placed another order for more styrene, and ordered my rock crushers from RPP. I got a 5th rim as well and I'll use one of the stock tires to mount up a spare to the rear of the FJ! Hopefully I'll have more updates this weekend. Last edited by siuvinson; 05-17-2011 at 01:43 PM. | |

In the paint stages...the frame and rims/rings are painted. The body is primed and has base coat...need to finish masking off some graphics before I spray the 2nd color (same as the frame). Haven't had the time to work on the bumpers or roof rack, but got all the supplies last week. I should have some more time to work this week...I hope! |

| more styrene I ordered some light buckets that I think will look good...they'll be in the mailbox when I get home tonight. If they are to scale, I'll get those mounted to the rack or the front bumper (or both!). They will be non-functional because I just don't feel like wiring anything up. |

more paint layed, and roof rack made. still need to do touch-ups on the paint job, and sand and finish bonding the roof rack together. I don't like the lights on the rack...too big. I'll see what I can find on ebay to replace them. some pics... |

Love the paint job. How do yall work on these things though? Working on my 1/10 comp crawler is annoying enough! lol |

| Thanks! I do get a little annoyed at times working on this thing...with my fat sausage fingers always getting in the way! I like it most of the time though...it actually relaxes me (and gets me away from the rest of the world when I can't stand anyone!). |

Looking good man. I was at Target recently and now they have a red FJ that is very clean. No crazy paint job on it. Stock wheels look good in tan!

Thanks guys! I wasn't sold on doing an FJ at first, I was actually looking for the dodge ram road rippers. They didn't have one in stock, so I went with option #2. Lots of work left to do before she's finished, but I'm not sure I'll have a lot of free time in the near future. Maybe over the weekend I hope. |

well as far as it goes the only work I am really seeing is just bumper fab and finding some different lights for the top rack. Other than that the thing looks straight man. Can't blame you for trying to find a dodge body though. I got one of the road ripper orange dodge bodies on mine currently. I might have a chance this weekend to get some good pics of it and I will do a post of my build up.
