Default Redrum's revenge

in light of all the wicked builds goin on with the revell kits, i just had to have one, i was going to build it for my daughter, but it ended up going to one of my sons....

this is how it looked in a previous thread,

and looked ok, wrong scale, really heavy due to metal body.....
so i picked up the classic chevy revell kit and got to work today

and with a bit of cutting on the stock chassis, and alot of cutting on the model, i think it will sit ok, and still retain most of the interior, minus the floor,

i have various sizes of styrene round stock, and am doing a truggy style rear cage, and am hoping to use the box side that came with kit, but tapered in at the back.....

also have a small hitec hs-55 in there right now, with a 65 on the way, as well as a Danally 90 turn rewind in the works

more to come

i love it. going with my original plan before i decided to stretch the wheelbase out to 5.5". and this beast should be sick. i wish i woulda gotten the rc4wd bead locks. i hate tire glue. i think a set of boggers would look killer on it too.

are you going to use the sunroof. i debated on it and decided not to.

looks good. i had to shave the marker light in the fender. but i also cut it up to the bottom of the bumper valance. i also pushed the front axle forward just a touch to clear the back of the wheel opening w/o trimming. but with stock parts i would do the same as you.

got some more done today, started the roll cage and spare tire rack, using 3/16 styrene, I'm thinking maybe small exo-cage? but might not, my kids really bugging me to hurry up so he can paint the rear section and drive it.......also fabbed up some mounts using some crazy ass earth magnets.....seems to hold quite well.....as in it amost pulls the rig apart removing the body.....

the 3/16 almost looks too big for it. mine is 3/32. i have some 1/8 too but i was going lighter but keeping brass. next one will be styrene but also 6x6 and have a bad @$$ trailer. i gotta have a tow rig since the truggy is barely street legal and only gets 3mpg(true to scale too with the 5 gal jerry can for a tank)

ya, i was goingto use the 1/8 i have, but i was worried about breaking it in a fall....it probably still might.......oh well thats what the glue is for.....lol
and i cant get it any lower.....so its more like a mud truggy....or something...

nothing wrong with a good mud truck. the boggers would complete the look tho.

ya it way to tall.....:(........it will look a bit more in proportion when those miclaws get here, but i also ordered a set of baha claws too, will see which look better when they get here.......in the meantime i picked up another trekker......and have plans on buildin a better chassis to hold this body to get it down outa the air....
