Getting into the scale scene! And my work so far Alright woohoo, 1st post! So ive been following this forum for about 2-3 years now. Ive always liked the idea of scale crawlers since i am a 1:1 crawler owner, but just now have the time to really start a decent project. My 1:1 is a toyota 4runner so naturally i HAD to have a micro scale version.8) I also started on a scale version of a indoor/garage crawl course. I love going to northern california to camp since i used to live there, so i decided to go with a scene from that area. As i know threads are worthless without pics, ill be posting lots, just bare with me while i figure out how to lol. Please give feed back, anything i can do to improve my scene or my crawler, tips/tricks. Also fyi, the scene still has alot of work left i wanna do, like trees, camp site, working fire pit . http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...ps32216e8d.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...psa511697f.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...ps84c7d60a.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...psc4557f92.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...psd29b3039.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...ps70ffa2f7.jpg |
Ill have pics of the course in about 10 minutes, still resizing them. |
Alright heres the course, from start to finish. I used nothing more than crap i had laying around the garage. Spray paint, spray foam, potting soil dirt, rocks and sand from my yard. In total it cost me about $12 to make it. The real money is gonna be put into all the scale items i wanna make for it. Enjoy. Here is the rough layout of what i was going for. http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...ps576bf94d.jpg This is where it is in my garage. http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5433482e.jpg Materials http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...psb4d2d40e.jpg Step one http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...pse6763c97.jpg Step 2 was figuring out what path i wanted the truck to take and spray painting a black line so i wouldnt forget. Standard oval shape. http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4f33e9c3.jpg Step 3 was covering it with potting soil , i sprayed it with spray glue first. http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4a749e8a.jpg Step 4 spray painting the whole thing dark brown for a base coat to start with. http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0380927c.jpg Step 5 added sand and more assorted paint http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7a63860c.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0ae8ad75.jpg Step 6 Was adding small rocks and things from the yard. http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...ps22e7eef1.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...psfb5654fb.jpghttp://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...psf14984b1.jpg Close up of ground. http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/...ps855335a8.jpg Still have TONS i want to do and add to both my crawler and my course. But i guess its a start for only 2 days worth of messing with everything. "thumbsup" |

Re: Getting into the scale scene! And my work so far Great job on everything the course, and micro rig. The detail on the course looks good and scale. Thanks for sharing. |
Re: Getting into the scale scene! And my work so far hey thx man, after checking out some peoples work on the scale builders guild forum i almost tossed it and started over lol. Gonna use this one to kinda test out different effects and what not, then im thinkin at the beginning of next month ill start a new one, and ill be using alot better materails. Im just not happy with the spray can foam. Ive seen people use that blue foam that seems to work really well. |
Re: Getting into the scale scene! And my work so far Course looks like it's coming along very nicely! And your 4-Runner......damn dude! I'm personally a Jeep guy, but that has to be the most bad ass 'Yota I've seen to date! I'd wheel with ya' any day of the week! |
