I've got the engine all painted up. Now I just have to finish the rest of it. Here's a little pic of the engine.

It's been awhile since I posted any progress, so I thought it was about time. I'm still in the middle of painting, but it should be done soon! I just have to finish up the body, but for now, I've got a roller! |

Truck looks really sweet, and did you cover your links in heat shrink tubing?

| Re: The mud season is coming, time to get ready! (Nissan 1/20) Thanks! And yes that is heat shrink tubing. I use 3/16" and just slide it on over everything once the whole link is assembled. I've done a couple like this, and really like the way they look. And it comes in multiple colors! Last edited by R.Billy Rob; 03-16-2015 at 11:42 AM. |

I took a little vacation with the kids to Disneyland, and since I've been back I've been really busy with work. So I haven't had a whole lot of time to work on her. Before I left I did get most of her painted, and would have finished her, but I had a paint mishap. I rushed it, and was painting outside on a windy day, and the wet body got blown of on the lawn! Stupid, I know! so now I will have to sand it down some, and repaint before I can finish. The cab is really the only thing I need to finish. I did re-do the electronics compartment so I could fit the ESC from my micro rally in it. That way I could run 3s! now I will have to beef up the drive shafts. I do have a teaser pic though. |

Awesome truck!I like your magnet mounts and that hinge on the bed is great! I'm building that model currently to try to match my old pickup. First time model builder so wish me luck! Did you secure the interior tub to the frame, or to the cab? |

The interior tub is actually attached to the frame from the kit with two screws behind the front seats. I also started back on this one, so I should be done with paint soon. Then I'll have some finished shots, and a video! Now I just need some mud. California's a little dry these days. |

Unfortunately, the run video will be postponed a little while. Last night my fat-a$$ed cat jumped up on my hobby table and sent the tray containing my truck flying! Needless to say there was major damage. The front frame was destroyed! I have started to glue it all back together, so I will be able to salvage it. Now I just have to reinforce it somehow. Here's a pic of the carnage.

It will be fixed though. One thing about me is that I'm stubborn, and determined. When I set out to do something, I finish it, or die trying. I need to finish this thing, so tonight I'm off to the hobby shop to get some material to reinforce the frame. I think this is just life telling me to stop messing with styrene, and start working with brass. As an ex-jeweler, I'm kinda itching to work with metal again. There's something organic about how it feels to work with metal, verses plastic. I just wish I still had my old jewelers torch! |
