Just got one of these yesterday. Was dissapointed rather quickly when the rx/esc fried after just two minutes. I scavenged the micro sidewinder from my losi mrc and wired it up. On 3s it's still pretty weak sadly

I ditched the electronics quickly but yea, common issue is the power. They completly screwed up with the drive ratio. Most swapped for dual geared motors(mounts abailible on ebay) or sumo tranny swap. Proline ambush trans may be an option too

Ditched the stock electronics for a micro brushless outrunner and hobbyking 10a esc. On 2s the torque is a million times better, and decent speed also

Are you seeing any cogging issues?

There's slight cogging at very low throttle input, but not much. It's not perfect, but a hundred times better than stock, and all together only cost me around $30 and a little time to get setup. And this way, being able to use the stock drivetrain, I was able to use the full interior on my new body

Finally about got my steering and suspension setup dialed in! I'm still waiting on an ESC and receiver, along with some differently geared N20 motors for the dual setup, so no actual drive time like this yet. I'm excited to see how it does, though! It should be a totally different beast from stock.

Most of the credit definitely goes to TownsendTdi for figuring out what works! It's basically the same setup as his, just with a couple of minor differences. I'm using the stock shock hoops with Redcat ball studs, and I'm using some of the longer Redcat ball studs (more threads) in a few places, like the steering link, so I could put a spacer on each end to lower the top and raise the bottom, making the link completely level. There's a couple of other little tweaks I wanna do, but nothing major. Everything is SO much more solid feeling with the new links, too.

The difference compared to stock is INSANE, for sure!

Parts list:
Losi LOSB1293 for shocks
Losi LOSB1722 to use to make internal springs
2-56 stainless rod
Redcat 24708 rod ends
Redcat 24728 long ball studs
Redcat 24005 short ball studs

Alright, you have had over a month. What say you? Still running well, or have you lost interest?

I intend to follow your idea for a motor; maybe ill go another brand for ESC, still deciding on that.
I get my G2-18th Wednesday it appears(I cant wait) I intend to run it stock as long as I can bare just to give it a shot, but have read every page of this thread and intend many mods, mostly suspension and motor/electronics.

Great thread, many pages of good information. Id be interested to keep the discussion going and see if anyone is still dedicated to really perfecting this and all their issues. I have a theory that RC4wd went cheap(motor/electronics/gearing) to gauge interest on popularity and if it falls flat, not a major loss?... Also, could be possible they are investing effort into expanding this scale, even reading this very thread. Its possible...
Love all the work you guys have done. Yall have a lot of knowledge that I am so ignorant to.

It's still running great. I love this little thing now. Plenty of power and torque, and also very predictable and capable
