Just getting things sorted out right now, but there will be a build thread soon.

Nice Galende and Video. @Natedog i like how you think, that is exactly what i had in mind when i saw that this bad boy had 1/24 Yota axles. One thing is for sure this rig is in dire need of a bigger or better motor. Any suggestions ? I am not a fan of the dual motor setup but would rather lean towards brushless or 380 motor if possible.

Yes on the brushless motor. When you get it, the shaft comes out the side away from the tcase since its made to mount a propeller. There's a grub screw that secures the mount to the motor, loosen that and take off the mount, then remove the tiny c clip off the shaft. You don't need the c clip as the shaft is pretty firm in the motor. I used a small deep socket to set the motor on and gently tapped the shaft through with a hammer. You can see in the pic the shaft is barely sticking out. I left a little room so the shaft isn't hitting anything inside the tcase.

As for the interior, my body is a 1/20 model kit, so I just used the interior for that and hacked around to fit it to the chassis. The body is held on by 1/4" magnets from home depot

So what did you do for the pinion? I tried to remove the original and I had a shed time. Completely destroyed the old motor but the pinion is still stuck to the shaft.

Did you get a new pinion? If so, which one?

Thanks!

I heated the original pinion a little bit with a lighter, then it just came off by twisting a flathead screwdriver between the motor and pinion

Thought i would throw a update... the 1230 has great speed and torq but the brushless stutter (under heavy load)was making me nuts. The tactic tsx45 motor can is the same size as the stock motor. I put it to try it out. Power was aliitle better than stock, but. Under a heavy load-dead STOP... so i ordered the tower pro servo that had been discussed to see how that goes.

What you need is a good old fashioned GWS pinion puller from the pre-brushless/lipo days...

Or just buy pinion press/puller so that you can always get the proper mesh.

To continue the updates. The tower Pro servo was awesome! Thanks Tgreer.. perfect torque, 80percent of my brushless speed...pinion seems to mess well-no niose. Some points I like to throw out there for anyone who wants to try this.
#1- you do have to open up the hole to make it fit in the trans, just a little bit. In doing this you'll notice that the bearing for one of the gears is exposed in in the hole. All I did was grind the lip of the motor just a hair so I didn't push on the bearing up cocking it inside the trans. Just the case alittle, doesnt even reach the motor bushing.
#2- the 2 bolts that hold the motor in. The smaller one is too long and will hit the motor stator when fully torqued down. I just added a little washer.
#3- I had to smooth out a piece of the outside of the transfer case. It's the part near the drive shaft that looks like a scale output shaft housing. Just a couple millimeters, no big deal.
#4- lastly, when you go to mount up the transfer case again the motor did hit the bolt for the one control arm. I just grounded down the head just before flush to make sure it clears...

Its sounds like alot, but really about 45mins from start to fininsh.. Hardest part was making the motor sit flush and clearing that bearing so it sits flat. For me-worth ever once of time and the 16.00 for the servo! Made this rig a keeper.

What about picture as installed? Without the body on, just to see the arrangement..

Thanks
