Just installed the Predator 90 with the stock ESC... soooo much better low end control.
The only obstacles were removing and reinstalling the pinion gear and the motor mount screws are a different size. I took the off another Losi.

Even with the added width and weight it still feels top heavy and bouncy.
I'm going to remove the inner springs and may go down a tire size.
Also, not crazy about the motor/radio... considering replacing esc/rx when I swap the motor.
Looks great, but some little smaller more scale tires would be nice.

Very nice body and bumper!

Yes, wth why no instant reverse? This is a crawler and should have it.

Just ran the Ambush with the new motor and medium set of helper springs front and back.

The Predator 90 has a lot more low end control than stock but feels like a little bit less torque and it is a bit slower than stock.
I'll take that trade for the control though... I can actually crawl now!

I am going to remove the front helper springs as it seemed a bit too stiff although was sidehilling great!

Right. The higher turn motor gives more torque at lower voltages. Lower RPMs per volt. Not intended for more speed.

Picture trying to crawl over a steep rock with the stock motor - you give it throttle as slowly and carefully as you can, but it doesn't move because it needs more volts, until you get to almost half throttle (when voltage is about 4v) but then the truck launches forward too fast because it needs more volts to move when under a load (like a hill or rock).

With the 90 turn motor you should be able to get it to move at less than 1/4 throttle (voltage ~2v) - thus, as you said, more control.

If you want even more control for crawling, put a 9 tooth pinion and a 56 tooth spur gear on there and you should have even more low speed torque/control.

Does anybody know where to get drive shafts with a 3mm hole to extend the wheel base of this guy?

Dear Pro-Line. if you are reading this please make some of your two stage foams in different firmness. That way we the consumer can modify the tires to our liking. Myself, I favor a rigid tire like the ultra4 vehicles run. Thank you.

For now, cut and CA together male and female pieces of stock shafts to extend to your liking.

I am loving this little mountain goat!
I have big plans for this rig... I think it's time to start my own thread.

I got a F150 body to go on my new Ambush. I wasnt very careful with the paint since I was going for a weathered look. There are some details left to add, but once I actually get this thing dirty is should look better. I found some brass tube that sleeves the drive shaft perfectly to extend it rear one. I still need to add the electronics back in, and unfortunately the stock battery will not fit under the hood. I was thinking about fabricating a roll bar to go in the bed, and hopefully at some point get a spare to mount as well.

I also need to figure out what to do about that front bumper sticking way out.

The tires are only tacked on the insides, I was able to mount some weights and take it for a short test run today.
